Mainstay` Orion Wide 5-Shelf Bookcase (Black, 5-Shelf) (Black, 3-Shelf Wide)

I must like these as I now have four of the tall bookcases and three of the half-size bookcases all in the espresso color. I am 72 yrs old and put these things together with a screwdriver - manual not an electric tool. The instructions are easy to understand and all of the various bits and pieces (screws, washers, nails) were sent. Nothing was sent. From opening the package to moving a bookcase to the wall the time spent was about 45 minutes.

We ordered three of these book cases, which the seller states are "Orion Wide Bookcases" with a width of 29.62 inches. We chose these cases specifically because they were wide enough, despite being a bit more expensive than some of the other "one step above cardboard" book case options. Upon assembly, however, they are NOT 29.62 inches in width - they appear to be the 24.5 inch width book cases, which leaves us fifteen inches short of what we needed to finish out our library area and yet a bit too wide to add a fourth case as that would partially block the door. Disappointing.There are many options for the narrower 24ish inch book cases, but if you were looking for the slightly wider cases as advertised be aware that that is not what is being shipped. I did not give only a one-star as the book cases actually arrived faster than expected and were, barring being the wrong product, assembled as expected. They will probably find some use, as we can always find a use for more book cases.

I was very pleased with this shelf, so much so that I ordered a 2nd to go next to the 1st one. It's what I expected for the price: not solid wood, but a cardboard-backed, build-it-yourself, adjustable shelf unit. It looks nice in my office. The espresso color is really almost black (not the deep brown I was expecting), but it's pretty. It also has caps to cover the screw holes in the sides and an anchor to safely attach it to the wall.

This bookcase was the worst I have purchased over 30 years. I have in bought at least 10 similar bookshelves in the past so I understand the nature of the product but have never seen such a shoddy product before. Problems include cracked and crumbling shelves and side pieces, missing hardware, shelf undersides unfinished, and the tissue thin upper shelf cover coming loose in multiple places. Quality is non-existentant.

it was easy to assemble and it holds a lot of books but it fell over and broke half of it the minute I actually put books on it.

I opened the package to torn Styrofoam and half the hardware in the bottom of the box, having already fallen out of its sectioned bag, and scratched already on the shelves. There is nothing about this product I like. It's poorly made. It's poorly constructed. It's set up is over complicated. It's flimsy and unstable. Don't buy this if you value your sanity, and you actually want somewhere to put books. I will never buy another product from this seller again. Thank you. I payed $40 dollars to have a 3 hour head ache after work and a large pile of garbage.

It’s the wrong color (black instead of espresso) but it’s still okay. Easy to assemble. We’ll be using it for our old albums

Hood shelf for the price. Wish it had more nails for the back of it and the cardboard doesn't align well but its manageable and doesn't show since it's in the back and against a wall for me!
