A Pigeon Sat on a Branch and said "See me best in blu ray!"
The storylines and subjects of the films in this blu ray set have been reviewed elsewhere: this review mainly concerns the quality of the blu ray transfers and assumes that the reader actually likes Roy Andersson’s work.Dealing with the latest film (A Pigeon Sat ...), the image quality is superb. Andersson shot this film digitally, using top quality RED camera equipment - and it shows in every frame. The bit rate hovers around 39mbs throughout which is very high even for a blu ray. A stunning disc in every way.“You, the Living” and “Songs From the Second Floor” both originated on 35mm film. These are good transfers, and although the bit rate is not so high - mainly mid to high 20s - there is a big improvement when compared to the dvd equivalent. These films use deep focus throughout, so every part of the image gains in clarity. Finally, his early film “A Swedish Love Story” looks very good, with bright, warm colours and good definition. Visually, it could have been filmed yesterday, and if there is any digital enhancement (and I’m not sure there is), it is subtle and non-intrusive.The extras are all exactly the same as the original Artificial Eye dvds, with nothing at alloffered with “A Pigeon Sat ...”) so no added value there, but overall, for Roy Andersson fans, this is currently the best edition available of these four feature films.

Steady Frames
Love all four pieces; lots to consider and plenty to mull. Looks and feels great end-to-end. Thanks, Roy.

Great comedy master
Great comedy master, unique voice, balanced and extreme at the same time. Strongly recommended for those who seek truth behind fun.
