nice relaxing music
As I venture into the chill, calm, meditation world, I find the meditative sounds widely vary. Some has water, rain, bird chirping, instrumental calm sound...etc. If you are not too picky about what specific sound you want, then this CD might just be right for you. The sound in this CD are meditative instrumental sounds that are composed to sooth and relax you, and I do find it quite relaxing to listen to it. I also subscribe to Apple Music, so why do I need to purchase a physical CD, you asked? Well, the sounds or melodies coming out of my CD player, which is hooked up directly to my amplifier, just sounds better-more dynamic, more realistic, more true to the original, while listening from my MacBook Pro streamed via bluetooth to my amplified sound a little less dynamic, and slightly flat, the reason why playing through CD is still a *thing* in this time of streaming.

Sleep music
Got it for my elderly mom who has difficulty sleeping, but she hasn't used it. I am sure it would help better than the radio she keeps listening too. I still recommend to seniors out there who have trouble relaxing at night.

Nice, but not for everyone
In art or music, there is often a polarity between “nice” music/art and truly great musical creations. Substitute the word “soothing” for this genre of music and you have the same thing. The point being that some creations will appeal to the general public who like it for a superficial (soothing) effect. This is a totally valid purpose. Then, there are creations that have a depth of the art of composition and supreme technical execution in recording that all comes together to produce a true masterpiece. At least this work of Laura Sullivan would come under the former description of “nice” music which will appeal to the public but less to people with a musician’s ear. The 80’s NPR 'Hearts of Space' series, Steven Roach’s masterful creations or Max Richter’s works would come under the latter and have less trite lyricism like this CD and more complex, rich, layered textures that inspire a deeper response to those who can and wish to go deeper in the art. No right or wrong here. And, music for massage is really its own genre with unique requirements as the music just can't be too complex, up/down in the intensity or overly cerebral that distracts the mind. This CD is more aligned with that goal.
