Another Weekly Shonen Jump Anime Classic!
Based on the Weekly Shonen Jump title written and illustrated by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro, this is the adventures of the title character Toriko, a Super-Powered Gourmet Hunter who is hired by restaurants, food companies, Mainly the IGO: The International Gourmet Organization, and rich people to hunt down rare food ingredients, no matter the risk. He is accompanied by a timid little chef name Komatsu, who is inspired by Toriko, despite his cowardly nature, to company him in all of his adventures and eventually become his partner to cook and complete Toriko's personal Full-Course Meal. Each major character in the world of Toriko has his or her own personal Full-Course Meal, which consists of rare one-of-a-kind food dishes depending on the character. The world of Toriko is separated into two parts; the Human World and the Gourmet World. The Human World is where modern civilization exists and occupies just 30% of the planet, the rest is the Gourmet World, which is inhospitable to most humans due to the strength of the wild life and extreme climate changes. In the Gourmet Age, which began five centuries ago at the end of the hundred-year war, the taste and texture of food is extremely important. The IGO, Originally set-up by the United Nations, the IGO is now independent from them and holds more influence as it is composed of 360 nations. They apply a numerical rating from 1 to 100, referred to as Capture Levels, to most ingredients based on the difficulty of acquiring it. The IGO has a group of seven individuals with highly sensitive taste, called the Gourmet 7 or G7, that are in charge of assigning the star ranking of restaurants and the ranking of chef. Individuals known as Gourmet Hunters who have usually trained their abilities to that of superhuman, are regularly hired by restaurants and the rich to seek high-level ingredients and rare animals. Torkio and his friends travel through exotic locals, hunting for rare food ingredients and fighting off giant monsters and animals, and the Evil Gourmet Corp, which wants to rule the world by controlling the world food supply with the rarest of the rare food ingredients only known as GOD, which stopped the hundred year war. Now, unlike all the preachy, Character driven drama titles that usually comes from Weekly Shonen Jump Like Bleach, Naruto, and Death Note, this is just an good old fashioned super power romp. It doesn't try to push a message about friendship (mostly) or the dark side of humanity, oh sure it gets onto some back story drama like One Piece does, but like it and Dragon Ball, it showcases a lot of unique and funny characters and keeping the characters likable with coming off flanderized by the anime adaptation. This Anime (and it's manga where it originated) I give my highest recommendation for any fan who wants something different from Weekly Shonen Jump!Have fun!

YAYYYY
My family and I love this show! Sometimes it is difficult to find an anime series that will appeal to everyone, but we've found common ground in Toriko. My children and I absolutely love it, and we always have snacks when we're watching. Just as a warning, do NOT watch Toriko on an empty stomach or no snacks in the house, you will get hungry!! One of my sons started eating a wider variety of foods and trying more types because he wants muscles like Toriko. While my youngest son said he doesn't want to eat healthy because every time Toriko's muscles grow his shirt rips apart and falls off, and he said he doesn't want his shirts to rip O_O

Shonen Style Food Frenzy!
If your a fan of Shonen style shows (like DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, One Piece and Bleach), you will likely love the over the top fighting and non-stop action that is Toriko. This series is going to be a long one and it flows like it. In this box set you will meet many of the main character who will battle lots of different monster in the goal of eating them. This show will make you hungry as well as laugh as the characters describe the foods they eat in the most exubrent and fantasmagorical way!

A good family anime
There's lots of action and lots of food! The characters are likeable, which counts a lot when measuring the worth of an anime as an ongoing story line.

yeah.
I had expected a bit of filler but it proved to be little, although it does not have to be there it is a great show. The thing with manga is that they start the show as the book is still on going, so like in Dragon ball Z the show caught up to the manga before it was a head and needed filler to wait for the manga to catch up. But other than that a good show, I am currently reading the manga.

It's Fist of the North Star meets Monster Hunter meets Fighting Foodons. Convinced yet?
I'll be the first to admit it, I was skeptical about this show. It's silly over-the top premise, combined with the fact that I haven't watched an anime in over a year made me wonder if this would be a wise purchase. However, curiosity won out over common sense and I decided to bite the bullet, and boy am I glad I did.Yes the premise is ridiculous, and the show knows it and runs wild with it. It doesn't take itself seriously and allows itself to have fun with the setting, while also presenting it with such heartfelt and genuine earnesty, that you can't help but fall in love. Not only that, but the characters are all surprisingly deep and well thought out, and nearly all of them are likeable. From the glutton with a heart of gold Toriko, to the coward willing to face his fears for his dream Komatsu, to the the brooding but kind-hearted Coco, you're sure to find more than one person who you'll hold close to yourself. Not to mention that the English voice acting is surprisingly good and portrays the show's humour expertly. In addition to that, the English script is snappy and natural and makes buying into the world of the Gourmet Hunters much easier than it should be. Not to mention Chris Guerrero (aka GeneralIvan) of Team Four Star makes an appearance as the show's narrator. While it's not without it's problems, Toriko is a solid show. Being a throwback to classic shounen adventure anime of the 80's and 90's, the show combines great action, endearing and loveable characters, and a surprising amount of heart, to create a first-rate dish. While an acquired taste to be certain, it's certainly worth the $30 asking price to give it a try.
