A favorite, fun, and tasty treat/snack----that's also good for you!
This is one of my all-time favorite snack-treats to have around, they're tasty, crunchy and sweet and it's good for you! Win-Win! I eat it right out of the jar, my husband sprinkles it on top of his cereal and bananas...and sometimes just cuts up a banana and sprinkles this on bananas or other fruits. It's also a great addition to cookie recipes or for sprinkling on any number of things. Try topping a PBJ sandwich with it!

Delicious and Nutritious!
I love Kretschmer’s Honey Crunch Wheat Germ!! I tastes amazing on regular oat Cheerios!! Don’t ruin your cereal with more sugar sprinkled on top- sprinkle Honey Crunch Wheat Germ on it!! It is SUPER DELICIOUS!! If you haven’t ever tried it, I highly recommend!! You will wonder how you ate cereal all these years without a “little sprinkle of the honey crunch” on it?! I wish more grocery stores carried the Honey Crunch variety of Kretschmers!! My mother used to put it into her homemade banana nut bread or muffins, too. And she would mix with granola and sprinkle it on some yogurt! I love to put it on my Uncle Sam Cereal, too!! Now thats a good combination!! #KretschmersWheatGermFan-50+Years!

Great taste and texture
I love the crunchy texture of this and the mildly sweet nutty taste. I use it as an add-in for oatmeal and yogurt to give them a better taste and texture. However, Amazon JUST emailed me minutes ago and said they couldn’t honor my subscription for this because it’s out of stock. I just checked and that’s NOT TRUE - it is IN STOCK.

Why Honey crunch is not found on shelves.
Most people know that supermarkets strategically place food items that they want you to buy at eye level but what few people realize is that supermarkets often make most of their profit from charging corporations very high fees to place their item on a shelf and much more to place it where it will be seen; these are called Slotting Fees. For a new product, the initial slotting fee may be approximately $25,000 per item in a regional cluster of stores, but may be as high as $250,000 in high-demand markets. After the initial slotting fee expires a new slotting fee is re-negotiated. This makes it very difficult for the average Joe to introduce a quality product to the market; in other words, it can be controlled.Slotting Fees are also widely used in bookstores. Bookstores often charge a flat fee of at least $5,000 just to place a new book and more to place it at eye level. To place a book on a cardboard end of aisle stand where it is guaranteed to be seen will cost the publisher about $10,000 for one month. My guess is, that Kretschmer didn't find it feasable to pay the slotting fees for Honey Crunch or their larger sizes of wheat germ, and decided that people can just add honey or a sweetener themselves.

Don't buy - it's changed
The Honey Crunch Kretschmer wheat germ was always my favorite. A couple of years ago it was no longer available in my local grocery stores. They still carry the regular Kretschmer with the red label but I don't like that at all. I was really happy when I found the blue label - Honey Crunch - here on Amazon. I bought 2 of these jars in December 2020 and they were great. I just received 2 more and they are not the same as the previous ones AT ALL. It looks just like the regular wheat germ (red lable) - very small flakes. It has none of the "crunchy" texture and sweetness of the last 2 jars. I did find 2 stone hard "crunchies" after going through about a cup of the flakes, that were so hard that I would have broken a tooth had I bitten down on them - they were the hardness and size of tiny rocks. What a terrible product. Did they really think no one would notice the change? I'm hoping maybe it was some type of ingredient shortage due to COVID but I don't want to spend the money in a couple of months to find out it hasn't changed back to the way it was.
