High marks for build quality
I bought this gun 4 months ago. It gets 5 stars for construction quality (aluminum body and overall build quality). Some havecomplained about the lack of a holster. Get the Ripoffs BL-94 or CO-94, Clip-On or Belt Loop Holster from[...] or [...], and the kit is complete. I have the CO-94 (clip-on) which isconstructed of Heavy Denier Pac Cloth (fine grain nylon w/ velcro closure strap) padded with Closed Cell Foam. The CO-94 holsterfits this unit like a glove and is of very high quality. So far, no trouble with this stun gun. One thing you must be aware of is thesmall size of the stun actuator button, sitting on the opposite side of the tube from the flashlight button. Insert it into the CO-94holster in the same orientation -every- time so that you know where the stun actuator button will be when you extract it from theholster. I always holster it oriented with the charging terminal on the right side so that as you extract it from the holster, the actuatorbutton is always oriented on the thumb side of the tube for those who are right handed (and the power on/off button on the butt end isalways a flick outward for power on). Be familiar with your carry orientation and holster it that way every time. A retired lawenforcement friend of mine who is obsessed with speed with every type of deterrent he carries, both lethal and non-lethal, alwayscarries his unit with the power on, which is one less thing to worry about when you have to do something important to counter athreat. (He carries another type of stun gun.) He says that a constant power on status does not drain the power on his gun. Here, Isegway to another point about this unit which applies to almost every other inexpensive stun gun on the market. There is no way tocheck the charge condition of the battery. That is a design consideration that should be integrated into this unit, but it wouldmake the gun more expensive. Just test it every day, like all law enforcement professionals are required to do with their units andcharge it up on the first day of every month as a matter of routine maintenance. When walking through a parking lot at night, I justhave the unit in hand at all times. Since it looks like a flashlight, it's not perceived as a threat. The flashlight is handy, but it's notdesigned to be a great flashlight. This is just the first leg of a non lethal protection package which should be complemented with 5.3million Scoville Unit OC pepper spray. Stun effects last only a few seconds. Finish the job with OC spray.

Won't light up Broadway but willl scare the bejezus out of a would be attacker
The flashlight/stungun was delivered promptly and exactly as described. The body is very sturdy and the unit came fully charged. The stun gun makes a heck of a racket when fired. That alone would make any coherent individual cease and desist. The level of noise it makes is really quiet shocking, (yeah I know, I couldn't help it). As far as the actual knock down power I could not say. I'm completely unwilling to test it on myself. The flashlight is very mediocre. The flashlight and stun do not work simultaneously. It's one or the other. You have to set the main switch (on the body) all the way back then turn on the stun (on the end) to charge the capacitor and then find the "third" fire button (opposite the main button) to execute the stun. Which is easier than it sounds but could prove problematic if the unit is deep in a coat pocket or at the bottom of a purse in an unknown configuration and you find yourself under attack. If you plan to use it at night for protection while walking your dog use a more adequate flashlight and have it already configured for stun and any stray dogs or bothersome people will turn tail and run. One other consideration, I actually took mine apart as I just needed the internals as a trigger for a potato gun and was not at all impressed with the workmanship of the wiring. None of the solder joints had heat shrink or any other type of insulation and after just a few firings of the stun the day I received it and opening it up that evening, two of the four capacitor leads had begun to completely burn off the wire insulation and leave exposed wire. So I would not recommend playing with it and firing it needlessly. I rewired mine with better than painted on insulation but I cannot vouch for the durability of the factory wiring. I did not intend for my review to reflect negatively upon this product, quiet the contrary. For $16.00 you can't go wrong and I have ordered more for family and friends. All in all a very impressive inexpensive security device

It works every time I test it.
Pros: Always works when I turn on the light and/or test the stun.Charge indicator comes on when I plug it in to charge. The stun button is tiny and on the bottom, so if someone takes it away from you, they most likelywon't know how to activate the stun function.Cons: Can't tell if it's charged or not. When I plug it into the charger the indicator light comes on green, but it nevergoes out or changes.I've tried leaving the flashlight on for a while and using the stun a few times and then plugging it in, but still...green light. All that being said, it hasn't failed to work yet. It's a good tool to have when walking the dog at night.

Stun gun / flashlight. 2 good, 1 half good.
I bought 3 of these so far. On one the flashlight portion only lasted about 2 days. My daughter is still happy with hers it as we didn't really buy it to use as a flashlight, but it would have been nice it that part still worked. The other two units still work so far as flashlights and as stun guns. They demand your attention when testing the stun portion. These are quality stun / lights and I will buy from here again if I need another one.Deducted one star for partial failure.

meh! maybe i wasn't lucky and ended up with a faulted one? :\
it fit my holster perfectly. it looks good. it weigh good. it's durable. it's all good when it comes to shape! and the led is fair :)and the price is great! :Dthe only problem is the batteries!!! :(it loses power way too fast, and if it's not fully charged then you can only hope to shoot that taser 3-4 times before it runs out of juice and you're left with just an led. bottom line is, if you want to make sure the taser is there for you when you need it then you got to keep it on a charger before usage! :(i want to open it and replace the built-in batteries with something better, but my first attempt to do that didn't go too well :(
