Accurate and Reliable: A Trustworthy Paint Thickness Gauge
I have been using the Paint Thickness Gauge for months now, and it has proven to be a reliable tool with no issues. This digital meter is perfect for measuring the coating thickness on automotive surfaces. The high-contrast backlight LCD display ensures easy reading, even in low-light conditions. The gauge provides accurate measurements with a resolution of 2mils, allowing for precise analysis of paint thickness. I appreciate the auto power-off feature, which helps conserve battery life, and the auto digital calibration ensures consistent and accurate readings. The data hold function is handy for capturing measurements, and the compact size makes it convenient to carry around. If you're looking for a dependable paint thickness gauge, this one is a great choice.

Great to have on hand to determine if you should polish/ correct auto paint
While not a high end paint meter, it's great to have on hand. It's better to check if you should paint polish/ correct automotive paint. No sense in working the paint if it's too thin. Very easy to use and note, it will not work on plastic bumpers.

Replacement product works as expected
Original Review (be sure to read the update further down):I'm in the marked for a used car and wanted to be able to check if a car had prior paintwork. I own a car that had to have the trunk and rear quarter panel replaced and repainted due to an accident. The measurement on those areas was 0.15, exactly the same as the rest of the car. I had one factory panel that tested 0.1 and another factory panel that tested 0.2 but the rest of the car was all 0.15 including the repainted trunk and rear quarter. So, unless the shop was somehow able to repaint the trunk and rear quarter panel with the same thickness as factory, I'd say the paint gauge is worthless. In addition, mine didn't come with batteries. I had to go out and buy a pair of batteries. Don't waste your money on this meter, spend double the amount to get a better quality one.UPDATE: The company reached out and offered to send a replacement. I took them up on the offer and this one seems to work well. The repainted areas are consistently recording higher than the factory panels. I'm now happy. I changed to 4 stars rather than 5 simply because I did have to go through the disappointment of the first one not working as expected.

GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. DO NOT BUY
This product is terrible. It gives a different reading in the same spot every time, I don't understand why this product is being sold. DO NOT BUY THIS

Not the best for precise measurements.
Only reads in increments of .05 or exact mils. Which is not very good for use on customer vehicles. Only bought it because I was in a tight spot and needed one asap. Will be retiring it for a trustworthy gauge instead.

Works fine
Quick delivery. Product looks good, but not had time to fully test.

For the average car hobbyist, this works great!
For the average car enthusiast, this works great! Tested it out on my 92 Mustang, 2022 Ram and 2008 Jeep Liberty. I was able to see the difference in paint depth of all cars (based on age) and test it on known bodywork on the Jeep. Everything measured out as it should! Perfect for deciding whether to buff out or repaint an older car, or find bodywork on a used car. For the price, it can't be beat!
