A very biased review of this book...
I am not sure how to review for a book that has touched your heart. This book that has truly made me see things in a new light and brought me "aha" moments. In the following words I describe how this book impacted me and how it may help you as well.First few words about me. I am 37 years old who has been fascinated with US stock market since I landed in US 15 years ago. First few years I read about 20 books on stock investing without any skin in the game. Then I got a 401K account and started putting money into mutual funds, where I made an annual return of 10 per cent. Not satisfied, I started trading individual stocks hoping to make it big and has seen my portfolio diminished by 50 per cent in past 3 years. As I was started to get disheartened with my stock market adventures came along this book.In this book author is advocating an inside out approach to not only investment but also life. An inside out approach means a deep awareness of what's going on inside us. Why we want what we want? What drives us to take action? What are our fears? Are our actions driven by a need to dissipate feelings that arise from greed or fear? Or are they in response to an external stimulus?Author has done a wonderful job of bringing together the objective world of stock market and the subjective world of our inner experience and how these two worlds relate to each other. To help us better understand ourselves so we can respond to the vicissitudes of stock prices author talks about the importance of equanimity, engagement, adaptability, and self control along with other things.Unlike a typical book on self growth author explains how these things can help us become a better trader. And that provides a motivation to really implement this "concepts" into our daily lives.Author is also a fan of meditation and explains how it can enrich one's trading life. No other book could ever convince me to make meditation a daily part of my schedule as Paradigm Shift. The writing is clear and easy to read. No where I felt that author is going on a tangent. Every line, paragraph and chapter leads to the next in a way that provides a sense of flow.My stock portfolio is still in the negative. But my present moment experience has "improved" for lack of a better word. I no longer just want to "make money" in the stock market. I want to understand the game and play it in a way that is engaging and fulfilling to my self.

Do you want a competitive edge?
In Yvan's words, he has tried to "convey simple, concrete, and straight to the point information". I believe he has accomplished this in his Paradigm Shift book.I am here to learn from an experienced person, someone who has been in the trenches, made the mistakes and is able to convey that information. Yvan has provided information in a very concise manner. It is like a secret gem, one to which given study can provide a competitive edge. Many will waste their time finding the secret stock market indicator. I know most people will not invest the time to sink deeply into the content of the book. Maybe they will dust it off when they have too started to fail in the trenches. The book will be waiting for them then. In fact re-reading the book as you become more experienced brings additional insights. This is not a "read once and throw away" book. What is especially nice is the Synthesis chapter where the main ideas have been summarized. I suggest you try to create your own summary/mind-map of the content before reading this, see how well yours aligns to Yvan's summary. Re-reading both to refresh the content is best.

Please buy this book and read it
I would like to say that a book like Paradigm Shift can change your life, it is that good. More specifically, I would say it very strongly reminds me of all the things that are most important in life and in being a successful trader. For the young and inexperienced in both life and trading, this book should be by your side throughout your life, a reminder about your lifestyle, mind set and understanding of life as you experience it rather than how you maybe learned it growing up or observing it in the media. Thinking differently takes a full on effort, but the rewards are living a fully aware life free of attachments. This book is understandable Zen philosophy which applies to the mind set of being a successful trader. You will see your weaknesses and failures in the market on nearly every page. Becoming mindful of a new approach and knowing we have the power to develop and maintain that approach opens us up to a life of endless possibilities, in the markets and in our own search for self knowledge and happiness. This book is a must read.

It is easy to read and understand and you cant help relate ...
In trading the learning process is unending. Once you learn to read the charts you wonder why the money isn't pouring in. Then you learn of trading psychology and awareness. Believe me I've been from Van Tharp, Mark Douglass, Daniel Kahneman , John Coates thru to Napolean Hill and Deepok Chopra. Several of those listed do or have traded but Yvan is "Just a trader". It seems the author has packed all those authors mentioned and then some into 200 pages. It is easy to read and understand and you cant help relate to his story as if it were you. I purchased it on a whim looking for something I could recommend for new traders and was blown away by the wisdom, thoughtfulness and completeness of this work. If you are new to trading this IS the book you want to start with. If you've been trading for any amount of time, I highly suggest this read.

I admire people like this. Yes this books is worths much more
This book is a pure perfection. When real trader talks about psychology with such understanding I don't really know what to say. I admire people like this. Yes this books is worths much more, and yes all of publicity it driven now-days to self-publishing copy-past authors, but thank you God in this sea of scattered information that I have come across this Masterpiece. It is obvious that this book is not selling well and titles like : "Get rich quick", or "earn XX amount within minutes in trading (yes if you sell premium and now hold it for a decade)", they drive peoples attention... but unfortunately for them they are really missing the essence of life and trading. I must be on the right track when I have come across such a brilliant market perspective. What to say to an author who has this outstanding book and hardly any sales. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR EQUANIMITY.

worth reading
The mind is the biggest weapon in trading game, and the purpose of the game is also about sharpening the mind. With this said, right way of thinking can be hard to achieve, and meditation is not quick fix. Patience for your goal, and contentment for the process at the moment is possible but mostly not automatic. Regards to those who can. For them it is not the most important thin whether to earn profit or not. As for me, i accept my current imbalance of my mental status.
