Not the best of the series
I loved the other two books in this series, but this one was the worst. Sadly, I had to skim much of it. It had endless filler of endless boring details of the hero's life. If you're stuck and need a new book in this genre, try Kate White's series.

Great Read
I am an avid mystery/private investigator reader and I have really enjoyed the Dixie Flannigan series. The plots are well thought out, the characterization real, and the story moves quickly. Does anyone know when the next installment is due?

Another Wonderful Installment from Chris Rogers!
This series by Chris Rogers speaks to me; I have enjoyed each story for different reasons. The main characters are engaging; the relationship problems between Dixie and Parker are fascinating.I believe Rogers has created a believable situation - a woman struggling with her past and her fear of letting a significant male (Parker) get close to her. Dixie carries some serious wounds from the emotional abuse via her birth mother. Dixie tried to get her mother to protect her from her "boyfriends" - instead, her mother ignored her. Dixie tried to avoid the boyfriends on her own; however, Mom often colluded with the men to allow Dixie to be used. When the significant person in a child's life does not protect, that child learns not to trust. This series seems to be a study in Dixie's learning to trust herself and others. Dixie and Parker love each other but Dixie carries some very heavy baggage from her years with her birth mother. Bless Parker for giving her the room and time to work on herself.Dixie has made significant changes in this book. It shows in her reaction to the psychologist - she rejects the doctor's pseudo-science, numerology and astrology. However, Dixie hears the messages about her behavior and how it isn't getting her what she wants. The plot in this book is rather complicated but includes "Granny Bandits," revenge murders and mind control. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 stars is because it dragged a bit at times. If you will look at the series list below, you may notice that it took 12 years to get the final book in the series printed. That is because Rogers has published it herself. I've already ordered the final installment; otherwise, it is hard to find. 4.5 starsDixie Flanagan1. Bitch Factor (1998)2. Rage Factor (1999)3. Chill Factor (2000)4. Slice of Life (2012)

Above average mystery
This story contained a variety of characters and situations that were unique. It was not the usual storyline ...not a totally surprise ending, but entertaining

3.5 Good read, but she's no Stephanie Plume
I initially picked this book up because I adore the Stephanie Plume series. While Dixie Flannigan is no Stephanie Plume, she is still a fallible character than any woman in her 30s or older can relate to. Quit her career for a new one, but it's not exactly her dream job. Has a man, but he's confusing the heck out of her and doesn't like her job. She wrestles with keeping herself so under wraps that she never gets close to people. That's what I like. This was my first Chris Rogers and I will definitely try the next one. Parker, her love interest, is a cad. If he doesn't straighten up and see what a great woman he has and stop trying to change her into what he believes he wants, then he has to go. Maybe kill him off and have Dixie solve the case while meeting the true love of her life...

Chill Factor
I read the first two books in this series and liked them. This book was terrible. If this is the way she is going to continue writing, she may want to consider retiring, now!

Good read but it drags a little.
I really enjoyed reading Chill Factor. The story was interesting but I just did not find myself as involved as when I was reading her previous two Dixie Flannigan novels. I would still recommend this book to someone looking for a good read, with a great female heroine. I am looking foward to the next installment and hope that Parker will make up his mind already! Do you want to be just friends or do want to be lovers? Quit stringing Dixie along while you twiddle your thumbs. I would not mind seeing Dixie give Parker a taste of his own medicine in the next book. One more thing, this reader would like to see more of Slim Jim McGrue. That is one character that I would like to know more about.

Dixie is back!
Do you know where your grandmother is right now? She might be so lonely she's turned to someone with a hidden agenda for comfort. She might be robbing a bank. She might be getting herself killed. Chris Roger's heroine returns in this third novel in the Dixie Flannigan series and Chill Factor will have you wondering from page one how some sweet old women connected up with such nasty bad guys, but the biggest question will be, How can Dixie stop these mind-control experts from claiming more victims? A satisfying read in a great series with a strong heroine.
