Excellent value and good quality
Some people said they have problem using this thermometer because they didn't use It correctly. To wake up the unit from sleep mode, you need to press the thermometer icon button "once" and then aim the sensor to where you want to measure again press the thermometer icon button ONLY "once". It will beep when measure is done. DO NOT press and hold the buttonlike many others out there. If you press and hold either from sleep mode or to measure, you will not get an accurate reading if a reading at all.Futher more, if the unit is not in sleep mode, only aim and press, not press aim press as from sleep mode.I first use It like others by press and hold the button and wasn't able to get a reading until I figured out how to use it.This thermometer is very well made. The read out is large with color background to indicate if you have fever. The top cover can be removed to use to measure ear temperature.Although the price went up a little, it is still cheaper than others not as good looking or able to read ear temperature.

My Personal Covid Meter
I've been living a life without a thermometer since leaving my parents home some forty years ago. I finally picked up this necessary tool for my medicine cabinet. After the Covid outbreak, I pledged never to drag my butt to work if I have an elevated temperature. CandyCare makes a nice one and I deserve it. At first I thought it was reading low with a consistent reading of 97.8 F. I figured out to get an accurate reading you must measure your ear cannel, 98.5 degrees. The doctor says I will live. This thermometer keeps it simple. You can change the calibration to C or F with a switch in the battery compartment. Push the big button to turn it on and stick it in your ear. Then push the button a second time. Green is good and red is bad. It will display your current temperature in big print and your last temperature underneath in smaller print. It also has a 40 measurement memory so you can track your progress. Thumbs up.

Inconsistent readings
For $9.99 it's an okay product. It gets you in the ballpark, but you'll get a more accurate reading with a traditional mouth thermometer. I find that the readings are inconsistent at best. It's still within 2/10 (.2) of a degree of accuracy. It's fine for illness, etc. (home/work/school/camp) - if you are just trying to see how high your temperature is - or if it is trending up or down. But invest in a higher quality instrument if you need this to be very accurate for industry/manufacturing; or for basal temp/ovulation prediction.

Accurate and Great for Families
I was interested in an infrared thermometer after needing to measure my baby’s temperature. I am able to get a reading at a distance and it has a mute mode in case she’s sleeping. No need to sterilize since it never touches the sick person. It is much more accurate than my smartgen thermometer from Costco, and I can get a reading on things around my house like the air register. The main downfalls inlclude:1. It doesn’t come with batteries. I couldn’t take a star away for that but when you’re spending $90 on a thermometer the least the company could do is provide you two AAA batteries.2. You do need the instructions to get started. There are a lot of functions so I can’t be mad about that. Once you read a couple of pages you’ll be off to the races and it is simple to use from there. With all of that being said I would recommend this product.

Amazing thermometer!
This is an amazing thermometer and I highly recommend it! I've been using traditional thermster until trying this one. I think we all kind of got used to waiting 5-10 seconds to get a reading, which is crazy, considering the technology we have available nowadays. With the infrared thermometer, you will get an accurate temperature reading within a click. I did take some time trying it out in different scenarios to make sure it's as accurate as a traditional thermostat (the ones you put under the tongue). The candycare thermostat was very accurate (up to 0.1-0.2 difference from traditional ones). Can set it to measure temperature of infants, adults, and even room temperature. There's a switch in the battery area for F/C. Measuring is very easy, you can hold it about an inch away from the forehead, or you can remove the tip to measure body temperature from the ear. Both are consistent once you figure out the correct distance you need to hold it from the body. Love it!

Quick and small
I'm pleased with this. It gives a fast reading, easy to use, fits in a pocket, and it's consistent.I was a little concerned when I read through the booklet that came with it since it claims to only be for kids and I was planning on using it for adults as well. So I checked it along side an under-the-tongue thermometer. For a child, the forehead measurement was at most, half a degree cooler (in F) than oral temp. For an adult it was about a full degree cooler. All the ear readings were the same as oral. This was consistent. This means that I can use the forehead temp for a quick check but if I notice an adult reading around 99F then I can switch to the ear check to see if it is an elevated temp. One last point, make sure that you switch it to the correct setting when taking a child vs adult temperature. That does affect the accuracy.

Unwarranted drama causing POS
I bought this in the event that one of my 2 cats got sick. Well... it happened. I trusted this POS. It said my cats ear temp was consistently 100-102. After a few days though he was getting worse. I took him in and it was 105! Which is a dangerously high temp that needs immediate attention. So $300 laters I come home, the POS says his temperature is normal. Next thing I know it says my cat is hypothermic. Temp of 94. We wrap him in blankets, get it to 100. I keep checking and it's at 98. Hypothermic levels again. But it says his sisters is 97. And she's fine. So I check mine, 96. Should be 99. I'm definitely not sick. I test it on my hand 2 as per instructions, check my ear again. 79!!! Oh and I'm 4 days outside of the return policy. I will try to figure out how to return this junk tomorrow. Don't buy it.
