Great little safe for hand guns.
I purchased 2 of these back in December and wanted to wait a little while to give an accurate review. Our primary use for these are to keep our hand guns locked up when we are not home. My Husband and I each have a safe sitting in our nightstand. Yes, this safe can be easily carried out the door but all I wanted was to make sure our guns wouldn't be used against us if we were to walk in during a home invasion. It is a good safe for the money and purpose and we are very happy with them. That being said, there are a few issues I will note.1 of the 2 safes I ordered had a faulty lock. It did as other reviews stated and wouldn't unlock when the green light would come on. We found out that if you pushed the lever UP before punching in the code then it would unlock most of the time. This was unacceptable for us and I exchanged it through Amazon. It was quick and easy, they arranged the pickup of the faulty safe and sent us another one before they even got the return back. The replacement worked great. So, I ended up with 2 safes that function perfectly and unlock when we need them to.Personally, I don't like the idea of depending on an electronic lock in the midst of an emergency if someone is breaking in at night. (My Husband also shut the beep off so his opens silently) So, he leaves his safe open at night and that way his gun is accessible without issue. He just unlocks it before we go to bed and shuts the door when he gets up in the morning. We have no complaints about our safes, we open them regularly and they operate just as they should. Having had the issue with the 1st one, all I will say is don't settle for something that doesn't operate correctly. There's bound to be a dud here and there and you have no right to complain if you don't give Amazon a chance to make it right. Just exchange it and you will most likely notice a HUGE difference in how the replacement will open.I give this safe 5 stars because it's excellent for it's intended purpose. It's not a Fort Knox and it doesn't claim to be. If you want something small that will keep your hand gun or valuables out of reach then I would highly recommend this safe.

Perfect for under a nightstand…
I have three pistols (Walther P22, Mauser 32 and a S&W Bodyguard 380). A combined 6 additional magazines and a small flashlight. They all fit nicely into this safe. I usually push the additional mags to the back of the safe, place the lesser choice pistol in next, and keep my preferred weapons side by side at the front of the safe. (This way I can toss the wife a weapon if SHTF…heh heh). The safe comes with an easy to remove mounting bracket and a no nonsense approach to securing it where you want. It happens to fit perfectly under my nightstand and being anchored to the floor, I don’t need to worry about someone walking off with it (or at least not without taking a crowbar to it). Sturdy metal housing. A thin cushion of foam padding. The locking mechanism is easy to program and I like the option of quickly turning off the beeps it makes when punching in the combination. This safe is low profile enough and easy enough to quickly access, I’m thinking of getting a second and securing it under the back seat of my SUV.If you don’t have a gun safe (or somewhere you can securely store a weapon to prevent accidents), get one. If you have a couple pistols and extra mags and want a quick access safe that can be secured to a permanent fixture, get THIS safe. Highly recommended.

sturdy, simple safe, great value
This safe is sturdy, reasonably built, easy to set up and install. I have had no trouble with the batteries falling out, but I don't slam the door shut. There is no reason to. With only four buttons, it is easy to open in the dark by feel if needed. It could use some padding on all sides, but that's an easy home fix. It sounds like a gong if you bump the gun on the bare side. If you key in the combo too fast it will not open sometimes. It is not perfect, but by gluing in some additional foam and taking a little care when entering the combo it is reliable, quiet and fast even in the dark. It certainly serves the purpose of keeping a handgun or two away from unauthorized users while allowing quick, easy access when needed. The small size allows many options to discretly locate the safe. Plus, you can't beat the price.

Decent Ammo Safe
I purchased this safe as a "quick access" safe for my handgun ammo. When I purchased the handgun (Ruger P95), I picked up a Gun Vault 2000D to store it for quick access. After reviewing the laws pertaining to guns and in home daycare (which my wife runs), I found that I had to store the ammo in a separate locking safe. Not wanting to drop another $180 on a Gun Vault, I turned to Amazon for a more reasonably priced safe. After reading plenty of reviews of other safes, I decided on this one.It has all the features I was looking for, size, keypad lock, silent buttons, and price. After receiving the safe I opened the package and received exactly what is pictured. Setup was a breeze, the override keys work perfectly, batteries are easy to change. Now on to the "bad" things. Nothing on this list is bad enough for me to tell someone to not purchase it. There are some things that perfect, and work a little funny, but at the end of the day it is a $50 safe. You get what you pay for. As some other reviews have stated the door to the safe takes up a lot of space when it is open. The battery compartment is a bout 3/8" thick, and obstructs your hand when you try to reach in the safe. You can get some of that space back by mounting the safe on the edge of a shelf so the door falls completely down. The locking mechanism makes noise, but not enough for me to be concerned. For me the biggest issue was that there was no 1:1 sized mounting template. I was able to make one after about 30 minutes of work, but it would have been nice to get one right from the manufacturer. All in all, it is a good little safe. For $50 it is exactly what I expected.

Don't like the mounting screw/bolt length
I think the design is lacking with respect to mounting. The bolt/screw that fixes the safe to the locking/mounting plate is too long. So, you have to either let it protrude inside the safe or drill a 5th hole into the mounting surface (floor or shelf) .

Arrived with damage. small opening for "quick draw" gun safe. ended up returning and going Liberty.
The safe arrived with the outer box being a good condition, but inside the safe had damage. The corner was ever so slightly physically damaged, but was enough to knock the paint off the outside corner and inside corner as well. Concerns this will ultimately lead to the safe rusting. The safe itself is a fair size, and the door springs open relatively easy once your entered your code and pushed down the unlatching button. However for a "quick safe" the opening in the front of the safe is fairly short to quickly and firmly grab access to what's in the safe (firearm etc). For a firearm, if you fully grab your pistol with a ready grip, as you draw, my knuckles would scrape against the rough inside edges of the safe. to avoid this you have to "finger draw" the gun, which in a stressful scenario isn't good.Ultimately ended up returning for a refund. Other than the points above, it's a decent little safe and likely would have kept for other storage needs were it not for the paint chips.
