Best intro to EXCEL
After struggling with several how to do it books on EXCEL, I finally found EXCEL Basics in 30 minutes. What a relief Ian Lamont writes in language that beginners can understand and he is well organized and knows what beginners really need to learn first. He doesn't overload the book with complications that merely distract from learning and tend to bore the beginner. This is not to say that the subject is easy, just that he really appreciates what a struggle it is for a newcomer to spreadsheet programs to grasp the basic concepts. The "30 minute" bit, is laughable; I have spent 30 minutes on each chapter and then had to review it, to be sure I had it right. But the effort was worth it. The index and glossary alone are a big help in getting started! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is in small print. I used a magnifying glass to read it and wish that it was available in computer format so I could magnify it on the screen. When I have finished it, I hope to go to some of the other books on the subject and be able to understand what they are talking about.

Excellent book
I recently re-entered into office position. Knowing excel is part of the requirements. I had little knowledge of excel. I am 70 years old. This book was the best. The author took time to give practice assignments and take you through each step. I highly recommend this book.

Just what I needed!
Exactly what I needed! I have taken Excel classes before, I always struggled with them a little and didn't retain any of the info. So now that I have my own business and have to deal with my taxes, I decided excel was the best way to do it. But I couldn't remember anything about the program. I didn't even remember how to add info, lol. This book gave me a quick and easy refresh and now I have my sheets filled out. Thanks so much!

A few fixes for next edition of a good book.
Overall very useful, but missing a few features of Excel: To insert n rows, select n rows below the insertion point. To edit a cell, press F2. You can rename the sheet tabs, just right click them. Ian: I can't read the image of the text import wizard. Rename your next edition "Excel basics in 1 hour". Sure, you can review your own book in 30 minutes, but folks learning it struggle with hangups, for example, forgetting what you mean by a "ribbon".

Excellent book for quick learning.
This publication is easy to read and more importantly, teaches you more than the basics of EXCEL. Highly recommended.

I'm sure it's good
This is another book I bought my sister to get a better job, but she chooses not to better herself to do it. Whatever.

Brilliant reminder!
It's been a few years since I've used excel, I knew I had the knowledge knocking around there somewhere and this book was a great and quick refresher. I am once again confident in the use of excel.

Great book
I got this book as I have just started to teach a friend how to use Excel. I used to teach Excel to advanced users and becaus I could do all the things I wanted to do without thinking I got this book to remind me how to do the basic stuff. This book is on my Kindle and goes everywhere with me. I find it so useful.
