The REXX Language on TSO

Gargiulo explains how REXX works. No jargon. Clear language.I had to maintain a few old REXX programs without any training. Not a smart situation.I use this book every day on my job, and it has really helped me.I couldn't figure out EXECIO on my own but the examples in the book really helped.There's a web page with practice problems and solutions. I'll probably do one or two in my spare time. (Not much of that!)

This is a well-written book for a REXX beginner or to use as a general refresher, but there is nothing here about using panels and panel design features or some of REXX more technical features. Still a good book for reference.

This was to be a refresher course as I have used REXX in the mid 80's. There is a lot of information missing. As far as an overview it is ok, but when I had to turn to others for help when I feel the book should have contained this info, I am refering to String Manipulation Commands which aren't mentioned to any degree. I was not impressed with this book and would not recommend it to other programmers.

Awesome learning guide. It is a good text book as opposed to a reference book. I does a great job of teaching REXX. After learning REXX from this book, I was able to go out and understand the myriad of REXX reference books on the market.

An excellent book for someone new to REXX but not new to programming. The content is well laid out with great examples and explanations. Perfect as both a learning tool and reference!

The REXX language, itself, is simple. The power comes from the "lower level" system functions that can be invoked. These can be cmplex, returning many details. I was hoping for considerable information about the more important "lower" functions, such as ISPF, ISREDIT, OMVS, and so forth.As a basic REXX language tutorial, the book is OK.

Works well for what it is designed for. Delivered on time.

El contenido del libro está bien, pero la edición es un poco cutre, por dentro, parecen más unos apuntes que un libro. Demasiados espacios en blanco, podrían haber hecho un libro la mitad de pequeño, y con el mismo contenido. Pero en fin ... para lo que yo quería, que era empezar a programar en Rexx, me sirvió, lo recomiendo.
