Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me

I thoroughly enjoyed getting an inside look on Lily Collins and what has brought her to where she is today. I enjoyed her frank and upfront perspective on the good and bad times of her life thus far. I always enjoy learning about someone’s personal story and I admire her for being brave and sharing her innermost thoughts with her readers.A few of my favorite quotes from the book:‘Let’s proudly share our quirks. Be you and embrace your differences as things that make you unique and special. “Different” shouldn’t be considered confusing, negative, or something that divides us. It should be a quality we applaud and admire within ourselves and others.’‘I want to look as strong as I feel. And in order to do all of that, I need to live my life for every moment and be truly present, not worried about things that are out of my control or trying to control everything within my power.’‘I’m not getting any younger, and the sooner I accept my story for all that it is, and let go of the shame, regrets, and fear surrounding my experiences, the sooner I can just live, love, and be loved.’

I have so much that I really want to say, but it would probably take me ages. So let me just give you the basics. People as a whole tend to fall into this hugely ridiculous trap of believing that celebrities are different than we are, that they have no real struggles and they don't deal with the garbage we do on a day to day basis. Lily clears that right up, opening up about her life and the trials she has faced in a way that is refreshing and eye opening. I found myself relating to her far more than I would have expected. Mostly, though, I learned a lot about life through this book. I learned lessons I should have implemented in the past and will certainly be implementing in the future. I learned about myself, I learned about parenting, I learned about... Well, life. I highly recommend this book. I also suggest adding the audible narration to it, which I did. There's something magical about hearing Lily's words in her own voice, exactly the way she meant them to come across.

This is the book you want to read and I kind of have always wanted to write. She just tells you what she's thought and experienced throughout her life in terms of personal growth, her relationships, her childhood and transition to adulthood, and everyday outlook on life. She is DEFINITELY someone I would love to get to know and gave a coffee or drink with -- whether this is genuine or a carefully constructed persona developed by a publicist I guess I'll never know. But she just seems like a cool chic. Easy quick read. But def worth it. Whether or not there's enough of an accumulation of information and experiences to actually warrant a book is up for debate. If half stars were possible I may have given it 3.5 just based on her perhaps needing slightly more content or depth.

Part memoir, self-analysis and inspiration, Ms Collins tackles some of her toughest struggles as a young person and writes about them with refreshing honesty, showing us the light and dark in her life.Great work, Ms Collins! You're a fresh voice amidst a sea of jaded memoirs. Keep writing, too. Can't wait for the follow-up!

i love her and this book is great!

Absolutely amazing and beautiful! Collins takes us through some of the deepest struggles of her life and discusses the people and situations that have shaped who she is today. With great mantras, beautiful sayings, and a positive outlook on life, Collins shares how she pulled through and learned some of the most beautiful, though hard, lessons in her life. Her desire to share her own voice, experiences, and insecurities with other young girls makes this an inspiring and encouraging must read! I have followed Collins and her acting career for several years. This new insight into who she is and how she has grown into such a beautiful young lady, has been an absolute pleasure to discover. I am so happy with this book and can't wait to hear and see more from Collins in the future. This girl is truly beautiful inside and out!

Honest, loving, endearing, witty, and all around well written, Lily Collins offers a fresh and insightful take on what it means to be a young woman. Trying to navigate our way through the world, find ourselves, and grow up is a tricky thing but Lily is able to take harsh topics and deliver hope, advice, and support unlike anyone else. Completely bold, unafraid, and unfiltered in the way she writes, Lily approaches sensitive topics that people are afraid to talk about like eating disorders, abusive relationships, struggle with perfection, and absentee parents with the sensitivity it needs but also with strength. I highly recommend this for all young ladies entering high school and even for young men as well. It isn't just for girls or young people, but universal. Bravo, Lily. Please, write some more.

I loved her honestly about her toxic relationship, just a beautiful and relaxing read!

I love Lily Collins so this pains me to give her book anything less than a five star rating. I just wasn't enthralled with the story, it is a quick light read which is nice but I didn't find myself itching to finish it. Some chapters were more interesting than others. Ultimately she talks about a lot of different topics from her failed relationships to her tattoos to her parents, it was a taste of each, but I was left wanting more. I still love Lily and if you do as well don't let me keep you from picking it up. It just wasn't my favorite memoir.
