The Friendship Poems of Rumi: Translated by Nader Khalili (Volume 1) (Timeless Rumi, 1) Hardcover – September 15, 2020

I bought the Friendship Poems, Love Poems, and Spiritual Poems versions of this book all at once, making it my first set of poetry books. And I love them. The poems are beautiful and insightful. As someone who is half Persian, reading these works gave me a sense of connection to my roots, which made the experience even more special.

I recently had the pleasure of immersing myself in "The Friendship Poems of Rumi," translated by Nader Khalili, and I must say it is a truly captivating collection that beautifully captures the essence of friendship through the profound words of Rumi, the celebrated 13th-century Persian poet.

This is a book that reminds me of my love for reading poetry. Beautiful does not begin to described this work of art. How did I never read anything by him so long ago, when so much of my literary diet consisted of poetry? I find it amazing how such words were written so many years ago, yet are still no relevant in today's world.

So beautiful how Rumi express his humanity love and sleepless movement of life. I love to read every book Rumi wrote he is an awesome author.

Bought a copy for both myself and my best friend and I wasn't impressed. The cover is the nicest part of this book. I didn't like the translations and found the verses a bit awkward. Disappointed and would NOT buy again.

Book came damaged

I thought the book was beautiful - and bought all three, however; I am returning them all because of the numerous English grammatical errors. I include a shot of the book showing the number of errors I noted from a partial reading. The tags on the top are minor spelling, plural errors, the ones on the side are actual incorrect words. For example, on Page 67 the word 'alter' is used instead of 'altar'. On Page 57 birds are 'signing' instead of singing. On Page 34 the word 'cloths' is used instead of 'clothes'. On Page 36 'cross eyes' is used instead of 'cross-eyed'. While individually these are not dealbreakers - collectively they make me wonder as to the accuracy of the rest of the translation. I know nothing of Rumi, and hoped these books would be a good introduction, but I'm sorry to say I am not confident I'm really getting a true version of what Rumi intended. Normally, I don't write many reviews of anything I buy - but thought it was important in this case.
