Not Rust Proof, Leaks, Bad Design
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I originally like the idea of stainless steel lunch box thinking that it maybe a better option than the plastic ones, but after 3 weeks of use I've notice too many flaws to make me reconsider my opinion of this lunch box.First issue I have is that this box is made of 201 and NOT 18/8 stainless steel. 201 are not as rust proof as 18/8 and will rust over time, yikes! After 3 weeks of use, I can already see a little rust spots near the hinges of the lunch box.Second issue I have is that you can't keep anything mist in here. It will leak even if the latch doesn't pop open accidentally (which happens way too often). They did address this issue in the description so this is not a complete surprise.Third issue (this is a major one) is that when you apply any pressure at the corners of the box, the latch flies out! Forget putting this in a book bag or with anything else besides a dedicated lunch bag. The box collapse into itself with any pressure at the corner which results in the lid falling apart and all the content inside gets dumped out! Major design flaw!I cannot recommend this lunch box with its current design.

An excellent choice when you need all the space you can get.
This was the second metal lunch box I bought. The first was cramped to the point of making it hard to get my sandwich out. This box has plenty of room on all sides to fit my sandwich. While the height of the bottom tray squishes my sandwich from the top down, I have no issue with this draw back. The addition of a third box in the upper tray is very handy for foods that you don't want bounced around like my Trisket Crackers or say raspberries / blueberries / blackberries and etc. The lid of the third box is handy as it helps to snap and secure it in the upper tray.I have found this lunch box to be just right for my needs. I don't have to fight my food to get at it or leave items behind that won't fit, and this is helpful when I have to sit a 12 hour shift and I can have some good snacks during that time.ETA: It's been six months since I bought this originally. I have never been happier with this purchase. I have found no draw backs to this lunch box, so I have upgraded my review from four start to five stars.

Terrific reusable lunch box that doesn't use plastic - great for adult lunches, too
I have used this excellent little lunch box regularly - but not exclusively - for two years and It is just about ideal for packing a variety of food into a small space. I'm an adult female and this container packs an ample amount for my office lunch and can usually fit a small snack, too.Pros:* Durable stainless steel is easy to clean. More often than I'd like to admit, I will come home on Friday and forget to unpack and wash my ECOlunchbox until getting ready for work on Sunday night. It doesn't stain and I've never had any problems with rust.* Great for eliminating plastic waste from packed lunches.* Great for portion control.* Keeps my food from getting smashed in my tote bag.* It's not heavy or prone to breakage as is the case with glass containers.* No, it can't be heated in the microwave because it is steel. Frankly, my office's communal microwave ovens are so gross, I avoid using them at all costs. When I want a hot lunch, I packed a leakproof insulated container or use a Crockpot lunch warmer.* No, it's not leakproof, but that's easily managed by packing it so that it doesn't tip over and by putting salad dressing or other wet items in separate leak proof containers.* I managed to misplace my pod (small inner container), but used to use it a lot for packing separate snacks. It is handy when packing something dry like crackers that you want to keep crisp even though the bigger container holds something wet like hummus. I may buy a replacement since they are available separately.* My one complaint is that the cost of the ECOlunchbox has increased by $10 since I purchased one exactly two years ago. There are more products in this category now, including what look like some really good quality knock offs, so I hope that the makers of ECOlunchbox will reconsider their pricing strategy.

Just right!
Such a great lunch box! Purchased one for myself from the container store a week or two ago and fell in love with it. Partner wanted one too so I bought them this one for their birthday.Fits enough food for me, a 24 year old adult female. I usually don't fill it all the way for one meal but I can fit a meal and a snack in it! My partner, a 26 year old adult male, says it is enough food for a light meal but recommends a snack on the side.Well made and durable! Great for our traveling lifestyle. Only downside is the lack of leak proofing but I am willing to cope with that in exchange for an environmentally sustainable lunch box!

I liked the first one enough to buy a second
I liked the first one enough to buy a second, but a few caveats to potential buyers. Yes, I did buy a second one before I came to realize these, most of the issues became apparent over time.1. The quality of the material is questionable. The material can warp under certain heat conditions and cause issues getting the lids closed properly. Even in ideal mint condition the boxes do not fit together tightly enough to store anything that might leak, so keep that in mind. It's not a huge issue as long as it remains upright.2.The lids are NOT interchangeable, if you have two you'd better keep track because if you get the sets mixed up they are really difficult to pry apart, especially with the small containers. (If that happens, wedging several butter knives around the edges helps to pop it out)3. As other buyers have noted, they can rust. Avoid putting them in the dishwasher, wash by hand, dry as much as possible with a towel and air dry on a rack to remove any remaining moisture before assembling and storing. All in all, they are perfectly serviceable for things like sandwiches and dry snacks, have a good amount of space and will hold up if you take good care of them. But if you're buying eco-products they should be cared for as if they were long-term investments. Otherwise don't expect to get much use out of them.

Leider kein bisschen dicht
