Perfect for my Simcoe roadster
Bike locks are hard to review without having a theft attempt, or without trying to break the lock. So this isn't so much a review of the effectiveness or security of the lock. Frame locks in general are a bit of a tradeoff in some ways... Keep in mind that these see heavy usage outside of North America - especially in the netherlands - and generally meet bicycle insurance standards. As far as frame locks go, this is by no means low grade security, but it is still a frame lock when it comes down to it - so it will secure the rear wheel to the frame, and it will will prevent the rear wheel from turning. It provides no protection for a "van" style theft unless you use a supplemental chain or cable. Within those constraints. this is a very secure device - removing it would likely take an angle grinder.I have a Simcoe Roadster, and I've been looking all over for one of the "dutch style" frame locks that could easily be fitted via the braze-ons. I've been talking to a local shop for a while, and have made no progress... so I decided to look into it myself. This fits the simcoe very well On its own, it doesn't look like the most imposing security, but it's better built than the plastic shell lets on - The plastic is merely external, and all of the internals are very well built. This version is the "non key retaining" version, if that matters to you - I have a slight preference for the key retaining version, but it's totally no big deal. It just means that you can actually remove the key when it's unlocked.Super easy to use, super convenient. I'd recommend pairing it with the Pro Tectic cable or chain that will lock into it... I purchased the cable and it's probably sufficient, but I think I would have rather bought the chain - it's longer, much more secure, and not much more expensive. The length would be nice if you have a quick release front wheel, you are likely OK if your front wheel actually takes effort to remove. The plug-in cable or chain together with the frame lock make for a decently secure setup for most needs. You can certainly get more secure locks in general, but the frame locks have the convenience of being always available, as they are mounted on the bike itself. I hope I don't have a chance to update with if this has successfully prevented a theft or not, but I feel that it is more sufficient for my needs as an urban rider.

Fit perfectly on Trek Dual Sport 2 Gen 4
Got this to lock up the bike when it was still in sight so someone couldn't jump on it and take off. The lock fit perfect into the existing screw holes on the frame and fits perfectly over the tires. Easy to lock and unlock and is installed and out of the way while riding. Obviously this is not for being locked up out of sight or somewhere that it is more than likely to be stolen but for a way to stop the back wheel from spinning and being locked up where you can watch it, it is perfect.

Fantastic Lock When Used Properly and For the Right Purpose
This lock by itself, stops the rear wheels from turning, making it impossible for someone to quickly jump on your bike and pedal away. This lock does nothing if the thief picks up your bike and walks away, or throw it in the back of a pick-up truck and drive away. The purpose of this lock is for times when you are within eye-sight of your bike, such as quickly running into a convenient store to get water, or sitting at a cafe with your bike on the sidewalk and within eye-sight. So many bikes are stolen because someone hopped on and peddled away faster than you could exit the store and catch them. This is the only purpose of this lock.It is convenient because it attaches to your bike permanently. You never have to remember to bring a lock (just make sure you bring the key!). It's also convenient because you don't need to lock it to a pole or rack.If you are going to leave your bike out of eye sight, then you can also purchase the optional chain. The chain will wrap around a pole or bike rack and insert into this Abus 4960 lock. By using it this way, no one will be able to pick it up and walk away with it. And if they do break the chain with an angle grinder, then they are stopped by the 4960's rear wheel lock. They'll have to break TWO locks to steal your bike and pedal away.Personally, I highly recommend this lock with it's optional chain. I also use an Abus Granit U-Lock to further secure the bike. The use of a separate U-lock to compliment this system is much recommended if you have an expensive bike to protect.Installation: Most European bikes have the mounting holes for these types of frame locks, but most American bikes don't. This lock does not come with any installation hardware. Sometimes you have to get creative. They do make optional mounts which work with a majority of bikes, but you have to order them separately. Personally, I use some strong wire ties to secure it to the rear triangle of my bike. Cutting the wire ties has no effect on security once the unit is locked (since it locks around your back wheel).

You have to make a retrofit to install on a bicycle or order the retrofit on line.
I like the product a lot. I like this to be a quick lock when I'm only going away for a couple of minutes. If I were to go away from the bike for a longer period, I would use my other lock as well. This is the cafe lock which I saw on my sister's bike. I am very happy with the product.

doesnt fit a 2.1" tire
lock functioned fine. came with mounting bolts for bikes that have mounts built into the frame. barely fit over the fender and tires of my aventon level 2. less tha1/16" clearance between the sidewall of the tire and the lock housing. could only cause trouble being that close to the 2.1" tire. sent it back.really wish they would publish what tire size these locks will fit over.
