People must be race car drivers!
*UPDATE* Took one star off. Just because I have had a few instances where I'm powering into a corner a LITTLE too hard and it will slide a few inches in one direction. Still not worth complaining about too much in my opinion.I purchased this because we are not allowed to suction cup items on our windshield in Minnesota. I use it for a small football shaped dual camera Dash-Cam I just purchased. It may not be as heavy as Navigation devices but it is comparable I think.I drive a 2008 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Hatchback 5 speed. I drive aggressively. Having a 5 speed manual I pretend I'm racing and I speed sometimes (the under cover cop can attest to that after catching me going 45 in a 30) anyways, my dashboard is sloped and it's matte. It's actually even slightly textured with a crosshatch kind of texture. I place the dash mount square above my center vents about 5-6 inches above it. The NAVGEAR device has NEVER I repeat NEVER moved on me. The bottom is a soft/slightly grippy/sticky rubber that is textured similarly to my dash with the small square cross hatch pattern. I've tried taking turns overly fast to try and get it to move but it never has.I don't know HOW people have gotten it to move. My advice to them or anyone having trouble with it is to try wiping down the bottom of the dash mount with a wet towel. No special solutions or sprays. ALSO do NOT use the silicone based dash polish from armor all. That stuff is SUPER slippery. That is probably causing issues for people. I have a swiffer dust cloth in my glove box trust me that's all you need to clean your dash. Who wants a fake shiny look from a product that dries up rubber molding anyways?Okay the dashmount is perfect and has never caused me an issue. I've had it about a month and am 100% happy with it.

Pretty good, could be a little stickier
I just keep looking for a phone holder that is half as good as this Garmin GPS holder:http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-010-11280-02-Friction-Mount/dp/B0035JL4V2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336738297&sr=8-2To that end, I first bought this holder with suction mount:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00687N0GK/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00As with most suction mounts here in the hot and humid south, it sticks to the windshield for a while, and then when parked in the sun, it falls off. This dash mount seemed like a solution, as the bean bag bottom bags are flexible, and the center flat portion could hold the suction mount. So how did that work out?The bean bag bottom piece fits nicely in several spots on the dash, although the bottoms are not as sticky as I would prefer, so it can still slide in hard turns. The center space for suction cup works, but for unknown causes, it sometimes just lets go of the suction cup mount. It is not a heat issue like with windshield mounts, as it happens sometimes when I just pick it up off the dash in the morning. The center panel is slightly flexible, and that may be a factor in it "leaking" air under the suction cup.The search continues...

Keeps My TomTom on the Dashboard
I purchased this universal dash mount after breaking the windshield mount that came with my TomTom. I wanted a better mounting system so I purchased a better mounting bracket and the dash mount. I read a number of reviews beforehand and was a little concerned when I saw some complaints that the universal dash mount would slide around but I have not had this problem with it.In a nutshell this is a smooth piece of plastic attached to a three-footed nylon sand bag with a rubber bottom - not a breakthrough in engineering but a simple and straightforward design. The plastic disk is large enough to accommodate most suction cup mounts. The weighted nylon sand bag gives the entire mount some heft to help it stay in place, and the rubber underside makes it difficult to slide around. In use it has given me absolutely no issues. It is heavy enough to keep it from toppling in most situations, including hard breaking, although it is possible to get it to move if you try hard enough. It even does nicely as a cell phone holder when said cell phone is in a rubberized case of its own, though it is not designed for that.I decided to try an experiment and plopped it on the slope of my dash where it could sit at roughly a 35-degree angle from the floorboard. It stayed in place while driving over smooth terrain. Granted, it was jarred from its place when I hit a sizeable bump but still it did better than I expected. Most of the time it will be on a level or nearly level surface and it just won’t move.If it has a weakness it would be in the type of rubber it has on the bottom. It is not a solid rubber compound but rather it is more like foam rubber. This is ok, but I would not let this mount sit in the sunshine for any length of time when not in use. My concern is that it will break down over time if not cared for and put away.So far I have not been unhappy with this mount. It works as advertised and is inexpensive.

Good..but not so good
Contradicting title, I know, but let me explain. My Tomtom 720 has a small neck and the original mat that I had purchased for my Garmin was useless. I checked out the reviews and bought this navgear since it said its good for shorter neck gps systems including 720. When I opened the box, I was really excited, since it seemed to be quite heavy and it looked like it'll just be the perfect fit for my tomtom. But once I placed it on Murano's dashboard, it didnt seem to have ANY traction at all.. and started skidding all over the place! I then had to place a rubber mat underneath it to really stop it from skidding. Another annoyance is that even though it looks like there's enough room to tilt the gps screen up/down, it really allows only a teeny bit of wiggle room.It might be a good navmat.. but definitely not for Murano.. and Im not sure for 720 either.

... smooth enough so the GPS sucking disk only can suck on dash mount for a short time
The Dash surface isn't smooth enough so the GPS sucking disk only can suck on dash mount for a short time. it's really too bad....
