Maxrieny DC Clamp Meter True RMS 6000 Counts Auto Range Digital Multimeter Temperature Live Check Low Impedance Tester

I wanted a clamp meter that could measure micro-Amps and capacitance. Of course it does much more and is now my go to meter.The small size, yet easy to read display indoor or out allow it be used in tight places where a bigger meter doesn’t have access.Uses “standard” size leads, so most makes of specialty leads can be used if required.A couple shortcomings:-When measuring voltage/amperage it will not automatically detect and switch between AC and DC.-when detecting live voltage you need to continuously push down on a button. For both safety and convenience a latching switch (or ideally just the main dial switch) would be a big improvement.

My co-workers just shook their head when were standing around a piece of equipment discussing a problem and I just pulled this of my back pocket, clamped a line and said “yeah, it’s drawing 1.4 Amps so we should probably bump the value of R2 up a few hundred Ohms”. After they were done poking fun me for being a nerd... they wanted to know where I got it and how much it cost.

Bought as a gift and I haven’t received any complaints about it.

The unit was fairly easy to use and easy to read. For the price, it was worth it.

Impressive meter with all the kit you need to use it with the exception that it did not include the two AAA batteries. The box contains the meter, test leads, temperature thermocouple leads and alligator clips. Just what you will need to fully appreciate the features of the meter. I really like the size of these meters for simple hobby and household applications. The 1 star markdown is for the lack of an auto power off battery save feature.Nice things that were unexpected are:A useful and well written instruction pamphletLow Z (impedance) voltage measurementfrequency and capacitance measurement capabilitymicro amp measurement for checking furnace flame detector thermocouple output current(this feature requires opening the furnace flaame detector circuit to measure the current with alligator clips)
