Nice wood. Sanded and no dings or scratches
I needed 2 pieces of maple to make small shelves for the end of a maple upper kitchen cabinet. There aren't many places to get hardwood anymore, but I was a little worried about buying it online. I was also worried about the size of the wood. Was it 6 inches wide or 6 inches nominal (5 1/2 actual). 3/4 thick or 3/4 nominal (1/2 actual) ? The wood measured at 3/4 x 6 x 12. All dimensions in the ad were the actual dimensions. And no dings, and well sanded, and flat. And perhaps the reason I took a gamble, it had free shipping. Very happy. I later placed a 2nd order for two 3/4 x 6 x 48 pieces of maple. They just arrived, and were just as nice as the first 2. They laid flat on the kitchen table. No bow over the 48 inches. Laying them on top of each other, there was a tiny cup of about .01 inches over the 6 inches, which is almost perfectly flat. VERY HAPPY with every thing I've gotten.

Excellent pieces of hardwood
not ever ordering hardwood via the web, I was a bit skeptical. However on receipt of the pieces of wood, which were straight and true, I was pleasantly pleased. When making shop-made woodworking tools, one needs the very best for accuracy and longevity. I recommend these in where both attributes are a necessity.

Wood is nice but warped during drying.
The wood had been roughly planed and arrived pretty flat. No major defects.I waited a couple of months to allow for additional drying and both pieces warped (sides high by about 1/8”). Not easy to flatten by hand - I’ll make it work.Buying wood online is expensive and kind of hit or miss. This was an ok buy.

Door threshold
My lumber shop didn't have any maple and I needed to put in some door thresholds. These worked great. Clear lumber, straight and nice color.

Excellent quality, straight, square, flat, smooth finish
It's taken me a while to get to this project but finally opened the package and finished the job. Well packed and shipped to me quickly (3/4"X6"X24").I didn't need the high quality that they provided but it is much appreciated, very smooth even finish, flat, square, splinter-free cuts, ready for stain, definitely very hard maple, which for my job was what I needed.I used the boards as supplied, no cutting but did drill numerous holes.I highly recommend Barrington Hardwoods, I'll use them again when I need finished hardwood.Thank you, I'm very glad that quality craftsman still exist!

One issue....Each of the boards have 3" of snipe on one end....Each board out of square
Edit: After doing some more looking I wanted to clear up some possible confusion. While this was ordered from Barrington Hardwoods it actually shipped from Exotic Wood Zone, as did the Cherry I had the same exact issue with. The Walnut I have ordered more then once now that has been perfect always shipped directly from Barrington Hardwoods. My advice to anyone who is looking to order....Once you click to put in cart make sure it is shipped directly from Barrington Hardwoods. If not, while it may be linked to Barrington, Exotic wood zone obviously cuts it in a different plant etc ands does a terrible job in the process (there is an option of sellers that sell the same product, make sure you select (Barrington Hardwoods from the drop down menu). To reinforce my advice, not only as there snipe....after I had wrote the initial review and started working with the boards I was completely frustrated to find that both Cherry and Maple boards were not square on one end of all 4....So I had to square all of them with my Table saw losing more material. The Walnut I have ordered and directly shipped from Barrington has always been perfectly square.I ill never have my order shipped from Exotic Wood Zone again, opting to get the wood shipped from Barrington directly even if there is a price difference.I took pictures prior to squaring all 4 and will try and post them when I'm on my phone (using laptop atm) to show exactly what I'm talking about.Because of the Snipe and the boards being out of square I am also dropping my rating accordingly. So this will be a copy and paste for their other order of Cherry thatI ordered.Lets start with the good...The Maple looks decent throughout the length of the boards...no cracks or anything major that would be an instant return....The length 48" is correct and 6 inch width (in case you don't know, they aren't listed like the industry standard meaning if your buying 6" width that is what you get, unlike most places that the listing is a 1/2 over because of measurement before drying)So now the part I'm not happy with. Both orders, two boards at 48" have 3 inches of snipe on all 4.While I can run them through myself and remove it I'm still a bit annoyed that they are using a planer that is A: cheap or B: is not set up correctly. And then gave the ok to send them.I would be ok with either if they cut 51" and chopped the 3" off and not pass that on to the customer....but apparently they do.And personally, having ordered from Barrington Hardwoods a few times now with boards the same length and width and receiving those with no snipe at all....that's how it should be and how a customer should expect the product. Not everyone has a planer or not an industrial and I feel a company that literally sells wood would absolutely be expected to have one and these issues with cheaper planers or poor setup shouldn't be at a company in there line of work....Its not worth me packing them back up and have to wait another week to hopefully get ones that are planed correctly and I'll take my own time to remove their mistake but I gave this place a chance and personally I can't chance ordering again....maybe if one of the two orders didn't have the issue I would give them another chance but all boards came like that....but that why I order....to see if they are done right or not.Anyway, good luck to them and hopefully they correct what is actually a fairly simple fix....customers deserve smooth boards that are the same thickness throughout.

Recommend to buy
The boards were great; my concern was how they might get abused in shipping. The seller goes over and above in wrapping and padding, so the boards arrived in perfect condition. I definitely will purchase more.
