Honestly useless but magical nonetheless
You could just download an emulator on the same phone you're using to read this review and play any Gameboy or Gameboy advanced game you wanted too....sure you have to deal with no buttons the colors are vivid enough to deal with it and all but there's something about holding a 20 year old Gameboy and using it as if it was built yesterday I love retrofitting old devices with new technology so I believe I am bias on the subjectInstall was not to bad there are no instructions with the screen I used the pictures on this page to figure out the orientation, the main ribbon cable that connects to the original gameboy board is a little confusing the gold pins face away from the main board (exactly how the original screen goes in but that didn't stop me from installing it backwards initially) there's no soldering on this install basically just plug and play I cut and used the foam pad it comes with to center and hold the screen in place (it's smaller than the original)Performance is great the colors on the screen are vivid it's honestly a night and day difference from the original screen I kinda laughed when I first started using it all I could remember was playing Pokemon in the car as a child only being able to see the screen while we were driving under a Street lampI would recommend this project to anyone who has basic electronics experience definitly worth the time and effort

Good enough.
The media could not be loaded. The screen is slightly smaller, the touchpad for the screen brightness was in the wrong area but still works when I tap it through the casing. Not a bad buy cause I still want to play these old games.Easy to install. Did not come with any instructions and it took 19 days to arrive. Nothing a YouTube video can’t fix and I have patience.

Easy to install
No instructions or videos I've seen helped but I connected the pieces and figured it out easily. Day two of playing and the screen has no flaws. So 5 stars so far. :)Update: Nearly a month later still working great! Highly recommend.

Works great.
The screen arrived about two days early which was nice, and it was also easy to install, but my screen came with dead pixels on it which is disappointing. They’re not in the way so the games that i play are still playable. Just wish there wasn’t a green line down my screen whenever i play.

Not the same board
The board is not the same one that they show in the pictures. The touch sensor is on the right hand side when it needs to be on the left and when I plugged it in it does not turn on at all. And could not find any installation instructions anywhere?

Read this
The LCD screen was perfect without doubt 👌,With beautiful colors and very good brightness, But just to make sure you have to be professional before installing the screen, Because there's a ribbon cable with chips you have to turn it very carefully at the back side of the screen, Also you have to add additional soft sheet on the back of the screen so that doesn't effect or damage the chips nether the screen if there is any pressure while screw the shell together, Again I'm happy with this screen but I hoped that there is any kind of guide or tutorial for the installation.

Respectable effort, but shoddy work.
I want to preface my overall review to say that I understand what the seller is doing here, and I have a ton of respect for it.They have found a method to assemble these small kits and make it easy for people to replace the existing display in their GameboyColor with an alternative to modifying the case. The work they are doing is manual, time consuming and tedious. The efforts they have put into this product have not gone unnoticed. The Entire PCB and its components were attached by hand, and it is decent work. Not great or fantastic, but decent. That being said,The primary problem I am having is the ribbon cables. They do not fit the connectors properly, and I am unsure if I have a batch where a change was made or if this has been a long standing problem.I have been doing electronics work like this for a very long time, and I know what a properly meassured ribbon cable feels like. These are not correctly meassured. Most of the time when I think I have the cable seated right, the Gameboy does not power on, as if the power is grounding out.I did have this working once and I attempted to assemble my Gameboy, to have the no-power issue creep up.It seems like the pin pitch on either the connector(s) or ribbon cable(s) is a fraction of a millimeter off.I do not wish to file a return or replacement.I want to support this person's efforts to make a good product and I believe this feed back is more valuable to them in the long run.The last bit of advice I would like to give is in regards to their soldering work.It is clear that they are using an iron to solder everything.Use thermal resistant tape, such as capton tape to insulate the board around the connectors and the IC.Use a hot air station to perform your soldering. The solder connections will be significantly cleaner and hold better. You are clearly using flux, which is good.Always use lots of it.You will find that using a hot air station is cleaner and you can assemble these way faster.I hope this review helps you improve.

Where to buy the glass protection screen separately?
Does anyone sell the protection screen separately? I have an original and the lcd is slightly smaller.

Not the same board
Works pretty fine but the board is not the same as the picture. I can't change the backlight cause the switch was built on the right side, not on the left where we need to touch to change the light
