Q: Can one insert a rod inside of the tubular pole to strengthen it more in case a racoon tries to climb it?

No you can't. I can say this is the best pole for stopping critters from getting to the bird feeders. I have had it for 9 months and haven't seen any squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks, etc even come close to climbing it. Just make sure it's away from trees, fences, decks, or anything else high up that they can jump from to grab on to your feeders. Highly recommended, saved a lot of money on seed this winter

Q: Could I get a reimbursement please? 2 feet is evidently enough to hit a gas line. It’s an expensive bird feeder after paying for repairs.

Q: How many sections of the pole screw together to make the total height?

There are three sections that screw together - a lower pole segment with attached auger, a middle pole segment with the baffle, and the top pole segment.

Q: Can they jump on it from above, like from a tree?

Yes squirrels can jump from a tree branch. Make sure the tree is at least 10 foot from the feeder. Squirrels can also jump from a deck, again at least 10 feet away.
