Don't Believe the First Review!!
I am disappointed. The only reason I took a chance on this foreign bluray is because the first reviewer claims it played just fine on his American bluray player. I just got this disk. No go. It just won't play. I've tried it on 2 different players. That reviewer must have had an American all-regions bluray player and forget somehow to put that little detail in. I am not happy.

Enjoyable
Fun horror movie with cool visuals and not much story. I have a region free DVD player and live in the states. This movie comes with English subtitles.

my personal favorite of the French Extreme
The blu ray played on my American blu ray player, so i can only assume that it's region free. Absolutely stunning film, my personal favorite of the French Extreme movement

Watch for the haunting imagery, fast forward through the last two minutes.
If you like gothic, surreal imagery like you get from Cocteau or Del Toro add this film to your collection. Watch it daily to fill your heart with sickly wonder, but fast forward through the last two minutes so you don't ruin that feeling.SPOILER:The special effects it the film's conclusion are laughably bad, so what should be a beautiful flight into oblivion winds up looking like a high school production of Peter Pan.Worse, the two main characters switching bodies seems unmotivated by the rest of the film. I have a hard time believing that Lucie is in such dire straights that suicide in a vampire's body seems like a good option, or that the ever rebellious Anna, now trapped in a human body, would accept the loss of her power and immortality so easily now that she was free from the constraints of her mother.

I Finally Got To See This
I love it. Sure, the logic is a tad wonky, but it's so nice and creepy. I saw a review of this movie on YouTube, and I knew I needed to see it. It's like watching someone's nightmare. It's a great, spooky, French Gothic horror film.

"Confused and Unanswered"
I was lucky enough to get a digital copy of "Livid", a french horror movie from the same team that brought us the outstanding horror film " Inside (Unrated) ". I really didn't know much about this film except of the directors and for me that was enough to give it a go. What I got from "Livid" was confused and unanswered questions though.A young woman named Lucie who has heterochromia (two different color eyes) is starting her first day of in home care for the elderly with a veteran nurse named Catherine. She takes Lucie around to several different patients before they make their last stop at an old mansion where Catherine has Lucie stay in the car for this last visit. While waiting Lucie gets curious and decides to go in. She finds Catherine with an elderly woman in a coma, Catherine knew she would come and was actually waiting for Lucie. She starts to explain that the woman was a famous ballet dancer who lost her young daughter and that there was said to be a treasure of some sort hidden in the house.Catherine tells Lucie she has looked all over but could never find anything. Later Lucie meets with her boyfriend who is a young fisherman and she tells him of the treasure at which time he starts concocting a plot to find it. Later that night along with a friend, a reluctant Lucie and her boyfriend break in and start their search for the treasure only to find that the riches they thought they'd find are something much more horrific.I took this movie as a kind of haunted vampire film which I really wanted to love but sadly ended up only liking to an extent. It took almost an hour before it starting getting good and by the time it ending I was a little dissatisfied. Some events in the film were unanswered and left me wondering an scratching my head, I would say what but I really don't want to give anything away. The overall mood was eerie and creepy along with a fitting soundtrack of violins and piano which gave it a nice touch. The acting was good, no complaints except for the use of Beatrice Dalle (the menacing woman out for revenge from "Inside") who had all but two small cameos in the film. I thought her to be the main villain at first but was totally let down by her role.It is a unique film with vampires, human automaton and revenge along with a few twists and a little gore that deserves at least a viewing or two. Overall its a beautiful film to watch and is interesting but starts off slow an leaves you a little confused with questions of why certain things happened by the end.

Wooden Acting, And That's Just The Half Of It
If you view the trailer on YouTube then you've seen everything worth watching. Nothing much happens till halfway through the film. Three young people decide to burgle a dark old house, then it eventually becomes a free-for-all with figures stabbing at each other with scissors and anything else they can lay their hands on. Any plot there may have been has gone out of the window at this point and the whole thing looks so amateurish you'd think they were making it up as they went along. Don't bother unless you're easily pleased.

Too much does not create the right atmosphere
There are certain conventions expected in horror films. There's a reason for this as they make the film scary. This film lacks many of these so although it looks great, for much of the running time it has no effective tension or fear. Some of the elegant music also acts against creating a tense atmosphere. When the horror hits, these scenes are very effective and gruesome (though I don't think an 18 was necessary given its fantastical nature).

Extremely strange
Weird mix of gory horror and Jean-Pierre Jeunet style fantasy/whimsy about a group of young people who decide to sneak into a large house where one of their friends works as a caretaker for the only occupant, a comatose old woman who has no next of kin. They figure if they steal a few things the old woman will never notice and that's she's never going to recover anyway. Unfortunately for them the old woman isn't as harmless as she seems. This is fun but very strange and at times feels like two different movies somewhat awkwardly stitched together.
