Wow
I simply couldn't put this book down. Scary really, especially when you consider this book was written and because all this is in our world more and more.Thrill of a read.

Beyond the realm of reality?
I think that the title is very fitting. Not as a definition of the way that the protagonists in the story mercilessly target their prey; but more in the way that it does prey on ones mind that this is possible.Written in Crichton's inimitable style, the story blends research into the subject matter with an interpretation of how human behaviour might ultimately affect it. In an area of science where the majority of people are not really up to speed on it, it does give an albeit fictictious view of what it is capable of.Read it and you should not be disappointed.

Loved it!
I cannot possibly do this book justice. I just have to say it is one of my favourite books of all time. And it's not because it's better than Harry Potter or wisked me away to a far away land. It's because I couldn't put the book down. It was a thriller that surprised me how much I enjoyed it. My favourite Micheal Crichton book. It's about a man who basically misses his wife who's a big shot at a tech company that does secret things and when he hasn't heard from her in a while he goes out to the company building to find her only to discover that the tech she has been working on has gotten loose. Won't say anymore but so worth a read.

Reasonable beach reading
As a rather predictable plot unfolds, the characters become less and less believable in their actions and the options they take. Some of the 'science' was interesting, but the reactions and behaviours of the main characters to each other and their circumstances undid the sense of plausibility and hence started to lose interest in the plot.

Thrilling!
A great book but as it progressed it seemed to become more farcical and lacking in ideas. But the overall story was thrilling and was tough to put down!

Michael Chricton's Prey
Before I start reading this thriller, I've already read Micro and watched Michael's series of movies 'Jurassic Park'. I thought I'll never read a novel for Chricton's as good as 'Micro' but 'prey' didn't let me down. If you're looking for a thriller that's difficult to put down, then 'Prey' is your next read!

Reread
Originally read Prey a number of years ago and loved it just as much this time around! Anyone that's a fan of tech books, sci-fi, or reading about what is just around the corner will enjoy this. I'm off on a Crichton reading spree now!

Frightening Complications-Relevant Today
This was a fantastic book about nanotechnology. Hard to believe it was published in 2009, it is very much relevant today. It starts out as a family book, a stay at home father, Jack, with a hard working wife and three kids including a baby. Dad is quite capable and is better at taking care of the kids than mom is, and she is upset about it. Her high stress job keeps her busy. Jack was forced into unemployment and has been searching for work. He is offered a consulting job at his wife's company. He learns the horrifying details of what they were working on and it has gotten out of hand. I really liked how the story flowed, you were introduced to the family first, then to the disaster. Very thrilling and horrifying in the complications. For the audiobook, the author reads the introduction, his voice weak. The narrator was excellent. It needed an epilogue that we didn't get. Fantastic book, very enjoyable.

Intriguing
Book keeps you glued. Takes some time to build its story, goes around and around for awhile, but once it hits the core is amazing. The author keeps you up there continuously. Very entertaining

Must read
This book perfectly portrays the threats of callous programming, and most importantly depending too much on machines to do your work. Well balanced in narration of the action scenes, the nuances and vivid descriptions as well.
