Rolls Royce of Drum Keys
I always order new drum keys with new drums. I just bought a new 9 piece Ludwig Kit and wanted all new accessories for it. Had a problem getting extra drum keys that were worth owning. This one was a shot in the dark try. I have played for 54 years, owned different kits but always Ludwig. Had MANY keys, but with this new set the drums were great but the key was pathetic as well as the ones I bought. So bought a Ludwig racheting speed key and this one that caught my eye. This is without ANY doubt, the finest quality key I have EVER owned. It is a little heavy, but I love that. Most keys are so light they key falling in the floor. But this one has large wings for easy grip, perfectly balanced for speed, and the grip for lug storage is awesome. I will never own another key the rest of my life but this key. You can't go wrong, it is awesome.

Excellent Drum Key!
This is fairly large and is of a heavy weight. I like how fast you can spin it to finger tighten or loosen the rods. Perfect all the way around for me as it fits well in my hand and sits quietly on the drum when not in use.

Worlds best drum key?
Bought these as a cheaper chicken knockoff of sorts after using Gavin Harrison’s Sonor Keys with red rubber tip; however, was presently surprised by the quality, weight and the ability to use the rubber tip on the lug as an alternative to finger tightening before using key side. I’ve also found that rubber side to work really well to provide a nice slip feature to keep you from over tightening your heads. I know everyone recommends against that. But we’re all guilty, right?

Works pretty good until magnet falls out. Even then it's good
Has an interior magnet within sleeve, where it holds onto the tuning lug. I've even had it on the resonance side (bottom) head where it held pretty good upside down. Then -- The magnet fell out on one of the two that I purchased. A little tricky getting it back in. Probably will fall out again or stick to a tuning lug... lolI usually used the reverse side (black) when mounting new heads. Because I didn't care for the resistance that the magnet made when quickly moving from one lug to another lug. Felt like I was fighting it to release from lug/s. Reality, deserves a 3.5 rating because it is very sturdy and does stay centralized when spinning lugs off rims, so I gave it 4 stars. Will update later in time with experience, so far good.

Great drum key!
Magnetized, with a wide, weighted grip allows you to spin the tension rods right out of the drum without them falling on the floor. Rubberized back end lets you keep the key on a drum during performance without rattling around or falling off. I bought two for quick changing heads. Best drum key out there -- I've tried 'em all!!

Buy this drum key - and some vocab
First, the key is very well-made. Feels nice and heavy and fits in the hand nicely. Smaller drum key handles are annoyingly unergonomic. Here's a quick primer on drum anatomy, for those who want to use proper vocabulary.Tension rod - the screw with the square head that when tightened with a drum key introduces tension on the drum head against the bearing edge.Lug - the part attached to the shell of the drum that typically houses a lug insert, into which the tension rod threads.

A little expensive but a nice key
Nice, big, heavy duty key. I especially like the "spinabilty" that makes lug removal easier. There are definitely cheaper drum keys out there but this is a nice one.
