Granger Paste Wax

I got this off Amazon after watching a video on waterproofing hiking boots on youtube. It was easy to apply, i just cleaned my boots first to remove all dirt, then applied small amounts using my fingers. Squirt blob, spread out and rub in. It did turn my boots way darker then they used to be but looked fine since they are hiking boots. These are 2 year old Merrell boots that i use to hike the trails on Oahu thru lava rocks, mud, dirt, sand, grass you name it. They started to get really ugly looking since I didnt take care of them before and figured what the heck, if this product works I wont have to buy new pair anytime soon.Last Saturday I took them on a hike up to Konahuanui which is the tallest peak on the Koolaus (big mountain chain on Oahu). The trail was crazy muddy and it started raining. Some of the mud sections covered the entire shoes and I was certain my feet/socks were going to be soaked by end of this hike. Got home, took off shoes to rinse them out and guess what? My socks were perfectly dry!!! This thing works great!!

This stuff works great, that's not the issue. It does tend to separate though, so try to shake it up before using.My issue is that the tube itself is poorly made. I think the previous tubes I've gotten were slightly different and they were all good. This one I went to use and it squirted out the back all over my clothes and everything. That rear seam was not properly fused together.

I only wear leather boots - one piece leather, handmade - for farm work and hiking; I try to be outside as much as possible.I have been using Granger wax for many years and it is super; it protects my leather as well as keeps my boots waterproof while hiking in the rain, through streams, deep mud and soaking dew.There might be a better product out there ... but I'll never find out because this is the only product I use.

Best I've ever used. Worked in 5" of water for a week with my leather Miendl's. Leather never wetted out. After ten minutes of being out of water, the leather was dry. Great product!
