Solid Drive
This is my second 5TB drive from Seagate and have had no regrets. As a digital hoarder, I save everything and then back it up, this drive has provided lots of room and reliability. The construction of the drive is good - solid, no gaps in the case but I prefer a bit more rounded corners. The included cable is serviceable but I did buy a USB-C cable instead as most newer laptops and desktops come with more C ports instead of A. I only use the drive intermittently, I do not keep it connected to my computer constantly as I've had issues in the past with other brands portable drives being left constantly connected and failing prematurely. Overall a solid buy and won't hesitate to buy again when I fill this one up too.

Ejects randomly
Painfully sensitive if moved or bumped. Ejects at the slightest movement of the cord.

Dead in a year and a month
Bought this in February 2021 and used it for backup on my Macbook Pro. Worked fine. Then I unplugged it (after ejecting it) and it no longer works, it's March 2022. The drive doesn't power up, no lights, no sound, no drive mounted to the operating system. Disk Utility doesn't see the drive.Note that there is a 1 year warranty; it failed 2-3 weeks over 1 year. This is not the first Seagate drive that's failed for me, I lost an 8TB Seagate drive recently. None of my Western Digital drives have failed. This will be the last Seagate drive that I will ever buy. From now on, it's Western Digital for me.Buyer beware. My credentials: I'm a seasoned computer professional with well over 20 years experience building and repairing systems.

The slowest drive EVER
I unboxed this drive this morning and started transferring 4+ TB of pdf files to it, via a MacPro that is not tasked with any other processes at the moment. In the 10 hours since, the drive has only managed to record 480GB of data. At this rate it is going to take 4 DAYS to fill up this drive. If you must have decent writing speeds, stay away from this sleepwalker. It is only good for slow incremental work and back-ups.

Usb 3.0? Try USB 1.1
The interface is a USB 1.1 interface. Its on the tech specs. This will not see a USB 3.0 speed. False advertising.
