Filter works as it should
This filter clearly removes chlorine from the water. The taste difference between the tap and filtered water is obvious. Based on that, I assume it is removing other similar contaminants as stated. That is what activated carbon does. I can’t speak to sediment removal as our tap water is clear from the faucet. There is a review here that states that the filter is not working because the meter they used to test it it their home shows total dissolved solids (200 ppm TDS as I recall) is the same in the untreated and filtered samples. Removing TDS is not the purpose of this filter. That would require a reverse osmosis (RO) machine. You can get those for under the sink but they are a lot more expensive to purchase and maintain. In any case, 200 ppm is quite low. You usually won’t taste anything below 500 ppm or so. I worked in the municipal water industry so know these details. If chlorine and other trace constituents are your concern, as would be the case for most people hooked up to city water, then this filter should work great for you.

Best I have used
For years I have used filters that say they are made for my model fridge. Their biggest shortcoming is that some restrict water flow to half what it should be. (Some I've had to toss or return when flow started at a trickle.) These filters allow full flow because they're designed right...taste, smell and appearance are excellent, with no residue showing as I have had with others halfway through their lifespans. The Pureline UKF 8001 filter goes the distance, a full six months. At that point I can start to smell pollutants, so I change them, knowing they've done their jobs. I highly recommend! (It would be nice if Pureline made these at least partially recyclable...and told us about it!)

Just like the OEM product
The quality is the same as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), but for a fraction of the price. Water tastes great. It's easy to install and works just as well. I have a Maytag french door fridge with a combination water/ice dispenser on the outside left side. My filter goes into the top right of the fridge horizontally. My friend, who has a Maytag fridge but a different model & style, bought a cheaper water filter from amazon and it dripped/leaked, but I'm not sure if his was a horizontal or vertical placement. For that reason I prefer this option as it's a mid-range price point, the cheaper ones may not be as good of quality.

Low water flow, specifications wrong
It filters the water but the specifications in the listing are wrong:Flow rate: 1 Gallons Per MinutePhoto shows actual flow rate. 0.5 gpm. I bought these because of the specified flow rate, these are just another off shore budget knock off. I'd recommend avoiding them if you want a decent flow rate.
