Facts Of Life/Don't Know What The World Is Comin

Every song in this album is great! The first one I heard before I bought it was "He'll Be There When The Sun Goes Down." Which was what got me to buy me this album. The whole album is better than I thought it would be.

I loved the product as always and I received the product early than I expected. I can depend on getting non-stop satisfaction in everything I order. Thank you, Willie Gilmore.

Favorite artist. What's not to like?

Perhaps one of Bobby Womack's best albums. A unique take on many songs inside this album. My only criticism is that I love Womack on slow soulful ballads. Wish there were more here...

Love this album it's one of my favorite by Bobby Womack.

His words in song strike deep and the truth flows through out each song.Thought provoking with sense of get and have yourself together for the days ahead!

Somebody borrowed my original album many years ago and it never came back. I heard some Bobby Womack on the radio and it reminded me how good this album is. My new CD brings all the memories flooding back-a classic in my eyes.

Bobby Womack ist leider vor einer Woche verstorben, was vor allen Dingen nach seinem letzten Meisterwerk "The Bravest Man Of The World" ein herber Verlust für die schwarze Musikszene ist. Jetzt bleiben uns also nur noch seine alten Werke un davon gibt es zum Glück genug zum Genießen.Sein siebtes Album von 1973 "Facts Of Life" und "I Dont Know What The World Is Coming" von 1975 und Nummer acht in seinem Katalog sind zwei typische Womack- Alben, in denen der alte Soul - Crooner wunderschöne Lovesongs zum Besten gibt. Songs wie "I'm Through Trying to Prove My Love", "Medley:Fact Of Life/He'll Be There When The Sun Goes Down", Burt Bacharachs "The Look Of Love" oder "Natural Man" oder der von Aretha Franklin als "Natural Woman" bekannte Klassiker von Goffin/King/Wexler lassen uns dahinschmelzen. Und dann diese unverkennbare Stimme!Aber auch Rocker wie "All Along To Watchtower" mit klasse Gitarrenarbeit stehen ihm gut zu Gesicht, ebenso wie das funkige "Nobody Wants You When Your Down And Out" feiner Gitarre und tollen Bläsern.Die zweite CD ist m.E etwas schwächer, hat aber auch wieder einige Highlights mit dem tanzbaren "Interlude No.1" und dem ruhigeren, aber sehr intensiven "Interlude No. 2" oder dem gleich gestrickten "Jealous Love". Das wars aber auch schon mit den Highlights auf "I Dont Know What The World Is Coming To"Trotzdem ist der Kauf für alle die diese beiden CDs noch nicht haben ein Pflichtkauf.

この1973年作のアルバムはUNDERSTANDINGやサウンドトラックのACROSS 110TH STREETの後を受けたもので、一回聞いただけでは地味な印象を受けます。しかし、アルバム全体はブルース色が強いなかで、いつものボビー・ウーマック節（MCのようなイントロの語りから溜めたものを吐き出すようなゴスペルルーツのハスキーな歌い方）は聞けるし、バックのベテランの味のにじみ出るしっかりした演奏に、自作曲のI'm through Trying to Prove My Love to Youなどで「ウゥー」という物悲しいコーラスが時々はいったりと、UNDERSTANDINGにまさるとも劣らない傑作だと思います。　本人作曲は二曲だけですが、古いブルースをかっこよく仕上げたNobody Wants You When You're Down and Out、自分の師匠とも言えるサム・クックのThat's Heaven to Me、セルジオ・メンデスとブラジル66のThe Look of Love、アレサ・フランクリンのNatural (Wo)man、最後がジミ・ヘンのAll Along the Watchtowerといったカバー曲の選曲にボビー・ウーマックの幅の広さ、ソウルやゴスペルだけに捕われない自由で独特な作風を感じさせます。
