A quirky high quality lock at a great price
This door knob is kinda weird but I like it very much. The oddities are:1. The door knob only opens one direction. When you enter the code, my door knob has to be turned counter clockwise to retract the bolt. Turning it clockwise does nothing. Most "normal" door knobs will retract if you turn it in either direction. This was strange to me but it works fine, knowing that. You CAN reverse the direction of the back handle which I assume would mean that you would spin the knob clockwise to open it and counter clockwise would do nothing.2. The key doesn't "unlock" the door in the traditional sense. With most locks, you spin the key and the door is unlocked and you can open it when you like. With this lock, you spin the key and have to rotate the knob at the same time to open the door. There's no persistent state of unlock with this door. There is only a temporary unlock, and once you spin the knob, the lock resets to locked. That is actually very convenient in my case, as you can never forget to lock it. For your use case, it may be annoying though.3. 0-9,X,Y,Z,C naming scheme (looks weird but it's fine).I don't know why several of the reviewers are saying it doesn't fit a "standard US pre cut door". That's exactly what I had and put it on and it works fine. Just like any door knob you'd get from lowes. I saw another one saying it broke in a day. Again, this kit is a little bit "untraditional" but it's something like 6 lbs of solid metal. I can't imagine it breaking unless you took a sledge hammer to it. Perhaps the pin was installed incorrectly? I installed the pin/shank (that connects the front chassis to the rear chassis through the door incorrectly at first and it slipped/wouldn't open. Perhaps user error? After doing that I swapped it around and it worked fine. I've used it to open the door maybe 50 times and every time it works perfectly. It's a bit sensitive on the install. They note to not install the screws too tightly. I did that (because I like it heavy duty and extra secure) and the latch moved too sluggishly. I loosened it up every so slightly and then WD-40'd the heck out of it and it's smooth as butter now and the housing unit is still tight with no movement except the latch where it should.Overall I think this kit is definitely a winner. I also changed the code the moment I got it and that was pretty easy too. Just pull the pins out and put the special pins in the holes of the code you want.Oh and one more thing, the code is not order specific. I would prefer if it was, but that seems to be a recurring theme with mechanical, non electronic door locks. This means that if you wanted a code of, say, 2413, then any combination of that would allow entry. 1234, 2341, 4321, etc. etc. So that makes it much less secure (in my estimation) and I think why they needed to add the three letters. If you have a code of 4 or 5 numbers and letters, it should still be very secure. Just don't use most/all in sequential order (like 12345 or any variation of those 5 numbers). Switch it up, go 03Y46 or something like that. Also, no repeat numbers or letters either. No 22562. That would simply be 256. The "C" button is not a code button. It's a "clear". So if you have entered something wrong, you just press "C" and it "wipes" everything. Don't mess with the "C" pin on the back.So like I said, it's a bit of an odd unit, but once you get the hang of it, it works very well and is very high quality metal, and well priced. I would recommend you buy it if you're looking for this type of entry. If I have an issue where it breaks or changes, I'll try to update the review.

Sturdy, works well, Terrible and just wrong instructions
The doorknob seems to be of good quality. I installed it last week and the installation process was difficult, mostly because the provided instructions were for a different version of the product I received. Also, the supplied template was confusing and didn't seem to line up properly with the actual mechanisms. This all added a bit of frustration to an otherwise straight-forward procedure.

Solid, as advertised, works, great price, kinda fugley.
Seemed solid, worked as intended, for a good price. I wanted a fully mechanical lock like this. So that's why I'm giving it give stars for delivering on its promises. After putting it on, the look on the front of the house was as I feared from the images -- like a custodian's closet. Just too much of an eyesore. Also draws the eye and probably curiosity from the street about what's locked away behind this big "I'm security!" Buttonny clunk of lump. I really wanted outdoor durable and no batteries to worry about, but this was just too much. Settled for an attractive outdoor (non-wifi, non-bluetooth, non-cloud, non-fingerprint) IU-Lock battery powered keypad knob, black, that looks good and modest with dial lights off. Similar price. Specials features that can come with an electronic lock (multiple codes what have you), but not really what I needed. Hoping this holds up in weather, for the price.

Wrong manual; gets STUCK; poor manufacturing
Spent hours trying to get this to work. Comes with the manual of a different/prior version. Once both sides are screwed in the latch gets stuck retracted. Very shoddy manufacturing, evidence: even on the table I had to change three of the installed tumblers to make it work (not yet installed). That's identical replacement with the spares provided. This is NOT manufactured with the accuracy locksmithing requires. Lost a week on my project deadline. Next time I'll buy American stuff.

Perfect product with good seller!
Received the lock and installed it easily within an hour using provided instructions. The lock is solid, and feels high quality. I contacted the seller asking for spare parts and they responded immediately and are sending me spare pins since I misplaced a few.At first when I read the previous review I was concerned the lock would not fit over a standard USA sized bore hole, but it fit perfectly fine and covered the hole completely without any modifications. I installed this on my gate door to prevent people reaching around and opening the gate.I'm so happy I found this lock on Amazon since it provides a keypad and also a key just in case , and I am getting another one for use inside the house.

Check screw size/fit before installation
Perfect lock/unlock features for the need. Provided screws are not the right size and/or the threads are non-standard. Made couple of trips to the hardware store and some hacking to screw the lock into place.
