Solid State Physics: Essential Concepts

I have an MS in Applied Physics from Johns Hopkins, and am presently in a PhD program in bio-molecular engineering. I'm slugging my way through the book right now because of my deep interest in quasi particles.The book is certainly worthy of Cambridge University (the publisher). Though as expected of a graduate-level physics text, the math is torturous, but Dr. Snoke has a lucid and compelling writing style that inspires continued reading.If I could quantum tunnel a 10 star rating on a scale of 1 to 5, I would for this book!
