Winger at their best.
Third and probably best album from Winger. Classic hard rock with a great 90s production. Kip Wingers best vocal performance allied to Reb Beachs amazing guitar histrionics. A must have for all hard rock fans

Excellent
Unfortunately this was out after grunge had started to take presidence in the rock world. Pity because it was an excellent progression in their music and grows on you more and more!

Five Stars
The best album from Winger

What a shame!
This is the album that SHOULD have made superstars out of Winger. Instead, two things ruined the party:-Seattle grunge-Beavis & Butthead. So sales stalled, the label lost interest, and the band broke up.Leaving the best album they'd ever done as a final legacy.Darker and heavier than the previous releases, avoiding the usual themes of hair metal in favour of social commentary and thought provoking lyrics, and even using dropped tunings in places - which should in theory have ENDEARED them to the Seattle crowd. The songs are superb, Kip sang better than ever, Reb played his heart out, and Rod showed why he's regarded as one of the best drummers around. All rock fans should own a copy.

Underated classic album from Winger
If you are a fan of Winger, this is a must-buy, showcasing the band's real talent for penning catchy hard rock music. If you're new to Winger, and are a fan of Whitesnake, Extreme, Def Leppard, Ratt etc, you'll love this album. It's catchy, its rocking, and despite the poor sales figures of the album at the time, it definitely should have been a classic release.Although not dated, it does have a familiar 'nineties' production sound to it (in the same way that 90s material from Bon Jovi, Def Leppard did), a progression from the distinct eighties 'hair metal' sound. More polished, less 'big reverb' on the snare drum, more orchestration and better mastering etc.Stand out songs for me, Down Incognito, Junkyard Dog, The Lucky one, In for the kill, Like a ritual... in fact there's not a weak song on the album. If you like heavy 'metal' riffs, you'll love Junkyard Dog. If you like catchy hooks, and early nineties headbanging rock, you should buy this album.

This is NO Hair Metal!
I must strongly disagree with my fellow reviewer Macelington. 'Pull' is a clear take-off from previous Winger material - which I love, too. But there's no resemblance here to 'In the Heart of the Young'. When I first purchased 'Pull', I was disappointed with the absence of the clearly catchy hooks of 'Can't Get Enough', 'Easy Come, Easy Go', 'Babtized by Fire' or 'You Are the Saint, I Am the Sinner'. BUT, within time, this album really grew on me.This is what Hair Metal would have been in the mid-nineties, had there been no Seattle Alternative wave. A logical progression. The song-writing AND the sounds are still up-to-date. This album's no nostalgia trip. Period.'Junkyard Dog' is the heaviest any Pop Metal band has ever produced. Bearing in mind, that at this stage Winger was NO Pop Metal band. 'Down Incognito' is a perfect Hard Rock radio hit which it, incidentally, was at the time. And 'In for the Kill' has got to be the best track Winger has ever recorded. Zeppelin, at times. Raging, yes!If your background is in the hard rock of Kingdom Come, Badlands etc., I guarantee you'll never get tired of this hard rock album. 'Nuff said.
