EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT, if you can deal boil a little water
I have had this type of hot pack before and this is by far superior; tougher material, better dispersement of the inner liquid (I've used others that get lopsided), better variety in the selection of sizes you get.You have to know what your getting into. They are a bit labor intensive in that you do have to boil the heck out of them to "reset" them. Most of the bad reviews I see revole around that. It's true you have to deal with boiling a pot of water for 20 minutes or so, but once it's done, you can get two rounds of heat of them. 1st, right out of the pot, they maintain there heat as long or longer than a traditional hot water bottle. Then, #2, whenever you want! I take them on long car trips for heat while I drive, I can use them hours into the trip. I bring them to work--I work 12 hour shifts--and can use them right at the end.As for the variety, I love the big big one. I actually strap it under a lumbar support I have and I can walk around with it. The medium (long and skinny) one is very useful to lay on down my spine, or for and elbow or heal. The almost oval small one is good for specific knots. I use the tiny ones on hikes in the winter. It's great because when I start hiking, I don't need them. It's only after a half hour or more after I start that I like to "click" them on and shove them in my boots. They'd probably work well in gloves to, but I've never tried.

Must Have Item if you have patience
4 year update: these packs finallly evaporated to the point where they weren’t comfortable to use so I tossed them out. I used one of the two bigger packs at least twice a week!I still love this brand but because they need to be boiled after use I opted for reusable rice packs this time around. I still highly recommend these packs for anyone in need of a lot of heat along with the weight for a compress heat session. If you have trouble with the packs crystallizing after boiling it means they didn’t boil long enough, I saw some people complained about this but it’s not the packs fault. If you have arthritis, frequent injuries, recovering for a surgery like knee or shoulder surgery, or play heavy sports than this is a must have.I started using these Body Comfort instant heat (snap) heating packs like 7 years ago while I was in sports physical therapy. These packs are a moist heat and its better to use for injuries according to the physical therapist that I had. I have had injuries since the knee injury that got me hooked on these heating packs; leg, shoulder, hand, wrist, ankle, foot....you name it and I have injured it in some way.I used the shoulder and the wide pack and they got used just about every other day from the moment I bought them. Over time the water ended up slowly evaporating from the usage but I got more than my money worth.I found this set on Amazon so I purchased it, it really is a great price here! I was eager to test out and boil all of the packs for the first time. Be warned, the heat from the bigger packs to the small packs is very different. The small packs do not get as hot and they don't stay hot for a very long time. These packs are worth every penny! Just do not make the mistake of leaving them in the freezer or microwaving without water.

Perfect in every way....works way past expectations!
I bought this package the FIRST time as a pack to be divided between my daughter-in-law and myself. She works in an office and has terrible back problems and I thought that she could just place a pad under her shirt if she really needed it. I needed the shoulder and hand pad. I put the pad in my suitcas last summer and traveled across the country while taking our grandchildren home to California. She is 11 yrs old. She had cramps and was so uncomfortable. We used her mama's heating pad. By the time we arrived in California I knew that I would need to give the rest of the package to the CA family. I ordered another set for me. When getting a massage I told my masseuse and she wanted a package. I gave a little tiny pad to her that was in my purse just to see if it worked. You can put it in your waistband and it just stays put...on the lower back if that is where it is needed. I gave the other little pad to my housekeeper who has the same lower back problem and she was amazed. I ordered the THIRD set for her for a Christmas present and a FOURTH one to give as another Christmas gift to a lady at our church. I am just waiting to spread the relief to all my friends and family. The first set was from Sam's and was $60 but also had a foot pad. I find no one had that problem and the giftset is perfect at $40.

Low Quality and Poor Customer Service
I am a chemistry teacher, and I purchased these packs as a demonstration in class of a supersaturated solution. I have used packs from this company for years without any issues, but I was always borrowing from other teachers to use in my class and I wanted my own set. I used them for the first time in class today. The demonstration worked beautifully as it always had before, but the problem arose when I went to reset the pack for the next class. After only 5 minutes in the boiling water I pulled the pack out to discover that the bag had melted. Most of the solution had leaked out.I contacted customer service through the email address printed on the pack. To their credit they responded in just over an hour, but they asked me to return the defective pack along with a check for $12.95 to cover shipping and handling. I am not spending $12.95 to replace one pack when four of them costs $10.99. That's ridiculous. If they are able to offer a more reasonable solution I will update this review.Update: Once again I need to give credit where it's due. After a little back and forth with customer service they recognized that I had just purchased their product and offered to replace it at no charge to me. I added one star to my rating because of this.
