Citrix XenDesktop Implementation: A Practical Guide for IT Professionals

This is a good book to use as an introductory guide to XenDesktop (covers version 4). It is not an in-depth technical treatise on the subject so don't expect that. It will definitely get you started with your XenDesktop implementation. My area of expertise is Citrix technologies so I found this book too basic and general as usual but it is a good resource for those who are just getting started. In all my years of working with Citrix products, there are no better resources than the Citrix guides, their support documents, forums and developer network. I have yet to see one single book on Citrix technologies that even comes close to offering any in-depth treatise except maybe Brian Madden's book on Metaframe XP Technical Design. I have started to write a book on Citrix several times and have been discouraged by the fact that I would have to leave a lot of details out. A great book on Citrix technologies aimed at high level administrators and engineers would have to include a wealth of information on Active Directory, Windows Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Services, Windows internals, Citrix internals, etc. It would be a major project to actually come up with such a book. I would strongly recommend that you read all the Citrix guides, documentation, spend time reading the forums, the Citrix developer network, and set up your own test environment to practice and test with. There is no better way.

Good explanation but screenshot could have been explained in a better way with each step... Other than that it was fine

Absolutely Fantastic Book.We hired a so called expert to assist us in implementing a complete solution. I am a fairly knowledgeable IT manager, and had some reservations regarding his skills, after several uninstalls and reinstalls of the product...So, I purchased this book and did a side by side deployment. My installation was quick, clear and worked the first time. This book saved me thousands in consultant costs!Perfect step by step instructions (with screenshots!).I have purchased a copy for each of my team members, and if the author continues in this series, I will buy it immediately.

I purchased the kindle version of this book today and sadly had to return it as this book was based on XenDesktop Version 4. We are currently deploying Citrix desktops and I was looking for a book based on version 5.6.
