RCBSF L DIE Set .308 Win

Threads on mine were slightly damaged but easy to chase straight

I have an RCBS press just for decapping and sizing. I have a separate press for bullet setting & crimping. I bought this to replace an old Lee decapping and sizing that worked for years. I set this up as per instructions, screw down to the shell holder then in a further ¼ turn. This dings the shoulder. I backed it out slightly and all seemed good. After reloading some 400 rounds of 308/7.62 most rounds won’t chamber. I checked with some empty shells and this die is not setting the shoulder correctly. Tighten it down a little and it dings the shoulder. I have written to RCBS today. I hope they have an answer.

I bought it to reload for AR-10, shooting out of a Faxon barrel. It won't resize the brass. Every case got stuck during the resizing. It is now at RCBS for evaluation. They're going to have to swap it out with a full length die. The problem is, the full length die bumps the shoulder back 0.002" while small base does 0.004". Hopefully it will feed.

These are EXCELLENT dies. I now have over 50 sets of dies of every possible mfg and good old RCBS basic quality still stands out.It appears that I was not the only one confused by the "T/C'" part of the description.Being the owner of a bunch of Thompson Center Contenders, I couldn't understand the T/C part.Come to find out, T/C just means "taper crimp". Exactly what I wanted.ron

Oh lord. Where do I start. I thought these 308 dies were terrible at first because I didn’t read the “sb” (small base) on the label. The cases were very hard to press. Once I noticed it and read what that meant I bought the regular ones in the green box. So they work. But not for what I needed.

So this is a nice die set got the small base for AR platform rifles. So since I'm kind of a rookie at reloading when I read TC in the description, I was thinking tungsten carbide, duh. TC stands for taper crimp, so you will need to use Lube on these dies, also don't forget to order the shell holder, as it did not come with it. Overall I am happy with this purchase.

Had feed problems in my DPMS G2 308L. Bought the Lyman headspace and case gauge and found that some of the cases would not gauge even after full length resizing. Bought the RCBS small base die set and ran them through again. That fixed the problem for most of the cases. I still have a few that are no good. The cases are mixed head stamp, once fired, Cases that were picked up from a military range seem to be the problem. Like everything from RCBS, these dies are top quality.
