Thoughtfully constructed, easy to understand art teaching book
I took a chance on this book as there were no reviews at the time of my purchase. This book is excellent. I like how the author Eddie Armer encourages the reader to visualize or map out shapes and angles as an outline for your drawing. I know this is not a novel approach, but his diagrams are very effective--some are new to me. I am a self-taught artist so I derive a lot of knowledge and appreciation for new techniques from instructional books that have been thoughtfully produced. As I strive to refine my skills, I am grateful for books like this to assist at increasing my confidence and personal flare.

Not what I expected
Don't really teach you how to draw most of the pictures are completed. I thought this was a step by step guide to drawing hands and feet

Nothing special
A lot of verbiage and unnecessary discussion of materials. Of more importance is the fact that, for me, the drawings don't quite hit the mark when it comes to gesture, volume and proportion. I'm left not really knowing who the book is aimed at, unless it's the very beginner.
