Tess of the D'Urbervilles (Macmillan Collector's Library)

First of all, I would like to state that I JUST opened the package that came with this book. Needless to say, I feel a little disappointed by the quality of the book, I can tell that this copy has been used before, or stored in an area that allowed it to collect stains. This edition IS small thus why I added a bigger more common addiction for comparison. However, this edition is STUNNING. For how affordable and yet beautiful it is, it is certainly worth the diminished size. However, if you mind having smaller editions of copies, do not consider buying this edition!

What a little treasure- beautifully made- great gift for the holidays fro a reader n your home!

OMG! One of the saddest & most tragic stories I've ever read. Depressing book. Like most of the classics written in the 1800s, no happy endings.

Macmillan has put out this beautiful new series, and I wanted to grab a whole stack of them. It has a beautiful, textured cloth cover, matching end papers, thin but high-quality gold-edged pages, ribbon page-marker, etc.Truly a beautiful way to experience this beautiful book. (The dustcover is also beautiful, and appropriate, but I put that aside while I'm reading to preserve it. I like the inside cloth cover even better.)Note, IT IS POCKET-SIZED. (The previous reviewer trashed it for this, missing it in the description.) It's unabridged, which just smile pages, and more of them: 568. The pages are thin (but not see-through), so it's much lighter than a standard copy, so great for travel. Just know what you're getting.

If it wasn't for the fact it is so well written, this story would be unbearable. I don't want to give away the plot suffice to say part of it are truly sorrowful. It is so well written that it takes the cheerfulness out of life at these points.
