One Comfortable Helmet
Lovin it! This was the most comfortable helmet that would fit on my big round head. There are no "pressure points" and it is extremely light. The venting system is pretty slick as well. I started snowboarding in 25 degree whether but once it warmed up to about 32 I opened the vents up to let my head breath a little. The only issues I have with it are the straps and the SkullCandy headphone insert. The strap is way to long. after I strap the chin strap I have A LOT of extra strap which I had to weave back and forth under the included rubber band. The SkullCandy earphones (That I purchased separately at REI)have good mid and high range but there is no bass. Thats understandable through for headphones made for cold conditions. Every year prior I would just use some cheap Sony headphones (that had decent bass) but they would be completely blown by the end of the season. But to wrap it up, the Smith Variant Brim has been my best helmet by far. Just make sure you do your homework and actually TRY ON A HELMET BEFORE YOU BUY.

Super comfortable
Everything you could want in a brain bucket and more! This helmet is a HUGE step up in comfort compared to my RED HiFi. It is lightweight, warm and the zippered ear pads offer great options for on mountain music (see my review of Skullcandy Lowrider). I haven't taken a big fall yet but I'm very confident in this helmet and its ability to protect my head! If you ride with a GoPro like I do the curved mount fits great right in the middle of the helmet between the first and second vent or if you want to give up being able to close your vents all the way the helmet strap fits great as well. Integration with my Smith Phenom goggles is seamless, fog free and secure thanks to the goggle strap on the back of the helmet. The BoA system works great and there aren't any pressure points caused by it at all so all day riding/skiing without taking a break is definitely an option. Enjoy safe trips from top to bottom and everything in between with your Smith Varient...your dome and family will thank you!

In honor of Natasha....
Love to ski, hate helmets, have resisted for decades. But when Fate sweeps away the glorious likes of Natasha from a bunny hill, all for want of a helmet, it's time to break down and choose ugly (helmet) over dead (no helmet). This winter, I reluctantly scoured online reviews and chose the Smith Variant Brim. Didn't think it would ever be possible to call a helmet cute, but this one in pinstripe white with its low profile and jaunty little brim is amazingly close. The clincher is how comfortable it is (vents super easy to use). Glad I spent a little more on this helmet for the great fit and look - you don't HAVE to be a bobblehead. Thanks, Natasha. P.S. Bought mine on Amazon from Outdoor Guys - lightening fast - great seller.Another PS - just returned from Vail. This helmet is everywhere - its even the "standard issue" upgrade option for resort ski staff. This is the helmet to get if you can swing a few extra $$.

Smith Variant great helmet.....how to ......lacking
I received the Smith Variant in an extremely timely fashion. Quick delivery. The product was brand new in factory packaging . Wore the variant helmet for the first time and after a few runs realized that I needed a face and neck coverage,,,,,which I luckily had. I must say that the lack of instructions from Smith or Skullcandy as to the way to install the earphones was very disappointing. You really have to figure it out yourself...the plastic circle is on the left side of the earpiece. The quality of the zipper leaves much to be desired also. You have to work at it gradually in order to unzip it all the way. All I all the quality is pretty good. The helmet itself is great but the little things that are missing are sort of key and take away from what really is a great product.

Great helmet!
I purchased this helmet last week and it was at my house the next day!! Let me say that it looks even better than what I saw in the pictures. I used it for the first time last weekend while snowboarding in the Poconos and it was great! It's so light that I didn't even notice I had it on. At first I was concerned that my head wouldn't be warm enough, but even with temperatures in the teens and 20's, my head was really warm and I didn't need anything for my ears since the built-in ear pads kept me toasty all day! I also received a lot of compliments on the look of the helmet and am extremely satisfied. I would recommend this helmet to anyone!!

One of the best on the market
I've been trying helmets on for years and I just found the most perfect and stylish fit. I never knew Smith Optics could make such a high quality product for the helmet market but they make me truly believe in their products even more so. Extremely comfortable, high quality, and this helmet will last a REALLY long time. The technology, light weight, BOA adjustable system make this one of the best quality products out there. LOVE IT!Note: the seller did an amazing job with a special request that I had for my helmet. The seller went above and beyond and I am really appreciative of getting such an amazing product for a really affordable price. I can't wait to purchase from this seller again.

Great Helmet but Watch How Your Goggles Fit
I really like this helmet but I use it with Scott ski goggles. The front brim tends to push the goggles down on my nose. Now I do wear goggles designed to fit over glasses so that may be a factor - so keep that in mind. The helmet itself has a very comfortable fit, is warm, is well constructed and has adjustable vents.

My first Helmet
I’ve been skiing 32 years, but this is my first helmet. Normally I use a hat and sunglasses. I got this helmet just in time for spring skiing here in Utah- temperatures 30-50°F, and a snow storm.Pros- at 30°F the helmet is warm, the vents are easy to adjust and only whistle a little on high speed cruising.Cons- when wearing glasses, the liner puts too much pressure on my ears causing them to hurt all day. I tried adjusting the liner and chin strap, but it only helped a little. Also, the liner makes my scalp itch. The visor doesn’t contribute anything.
