Extremely impressed, but needs a few tweaks.
Extremely impressed with this knife!I bought it for my girlfriend to carry for self defense. I like the small size, and the ring in the handle will prevent her from being disarmed in a bad situation. She's felt uneasy with the state of the world and all the chaos going on. It's forced her to want to stay home more than go out and explore on her days off without me due to the feeling of helplessness. And that's causing its own problems. She cats cabin fever like nobody I've ever known. It's scary! = š¦Hopefully this gives her some confidence. She really needs her carry permit... šAnyway, the clip on here sucks. Like really sucks. The strength of it is fine, but the way they shaped the bottom of it is useless. It's angled about 45 degrees instead of being a 90 degree bend, so it pulls right off when you try to draw it. She doesn't wear belts often, so I knew I'd be modifying it in some way anyway. I tried to bend it to work, but the retention on the blade is better than anything I could do to resolve the issue with this clip. I had a Cold Steel drop forged push dagger that came with an Ulti Clip which I removed because I tied it to my plate carrier. I modified that Ulti Clip to fit this sheath and now she can wear it on basically any pair of pants or attached to her pocket and draw the blade without the sheath following the pull.I knew it would need to be as comfortable as possible for her want to wear it daily, so I took some 1/8" adhesive backed neoprene padding that I've used for various projects (like cheek rests and such), and I placed some on the back which rests against the body. Now it's a pretty damn good EDC set-up.The blade itself is really damn sharp. I mean Really Sharp. Slices paper with ease. I'm a little worried she'll cut herself, but I'd rather it be that sharp if she needs to use it.The shape and contour is spot on, and all the edges are perfectly smoothed into each transition. It feels like silk in the hand. No hard edges or spots that rub weird. It's extremely comfortable. It took me by surprise so much so, that I ordered one for myself. I got the Damascus version though šHope she doesn't see mine when it arrives, because I know she'll try to trade me for it!

Great value, well made, and super sharp
This is my first karambit. It's very cool to have a 2-edged knife (that you can spin around!). This is, also, the first time to have a blade with DC53. It "feels" like D2 and has a great edge. Time will tell how long the blade will stay sharp. It would be nice to slice up a pig carcass to test its self-defense prowess. All the reviews say it's super strong, and I agree. If you are carrying this karambit for self-defense, you will have a weapon that is like a laser. Stitches are guaranteed. The bevel was a little toothy but very sharp. I stropped it up, but DC53 is strong and it will take a little more time to the mirror edge that I like. But, I'm not complaining about the keenness of the edge. The karambit feels nice in your hands. I have thick hands from laying bricks for a couple of years. The ring isn't too small or too large. As a self-defense weapon, I'd feel with my pinkie inside the ring, body in my palm, and thumb on the jimping. The blade isn't going to slide back to the fingers. I'm a first-second karambit user and practiced spinning it. It's balanced.Masalong's design is a great idea. If you are shopping for a karambit, looking a the Giant Bee should be checked out.

Impressively sharp - and glows in the dark!
I'm a big fan of karambits. I've purchased several of Masalong's knives and have liked all of them from the small descrete blades for everyday concealed carry to the large heavy working knives. Usually, I get the darker more subdued finish, if available, but this time I purchased the damascus version. It looks very nice, but isn't too flashy. I'll be honest, the glow in the dark handle scales on the damascus version pushed me over the edge. I'm a sucker for glow in the dark anything. The knife arrived VERY sharp. I will caution anyone who chooses to purchase this knife to be careful when first handling it. This is only the second double edged knife I've owned and I managed to cut myself within the first five minutes of unboxing it. It was only a moment's inattention as I was checking the fit between the knife and the sheath and I had a very fine cut across the side of the thumb from the back edge of the knife. Think of a really bad paper cut. Watch that back edge! The shape of the blade and double edge makes for surprisingly easy cutting and slashing with either forward or backhand movements. Cardboard boxes, paracord and even a steak that I cooked for dinner were all easily cut. After testing, cleaning and a quick stropping both sides of the blade are shaving sharp. Not that it really needed much improvement. The knife grip is comfortable for my medium sized hands when holding the karambit in a reverse grip (blade down). The finger hole is large enough, but not if you are wearing gloves. I live in a warm part of the country so this is usually not an issue for me. If you have bear paws for hands, this knife may not be a good fit for you and I would recommend getting something a bit larger.Several others have commented in their reviews on the sheath and belt clip. The sheath is kydex, relatively well molded and has good retention. The knife draws easily but the biggest gripe I have is the belt clip. It doesn't hold onto your belt or waistband very well. If you cinch up your belt, the sheath usually stays put, but will pull free on the draw if you have just clipped it in your pocket or the waistband of some gym shorts. For this reason I have deducted one star from the rating. To remidy the shortcomings of the belt clip, I replaced it with a kydex clip available here:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DEU7Q96/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Rw5IFbZ3D8NQYThe holes line up nicely whether you want a vertical draw (as with the original clip) or a slightly more grip forward cant that I prefer. I've used the same replacement clip on several knives from various manufacturers and have been very satisfied with its ability to stay put. After switching, I never have to worry about the sheath coming out on the draw.Pros:Damascus looks classy. I may get another in the dark finish for carry.Wicked sharp.Nice blade shape. Cuts very well with either slashes or quick pokes.Double edged (check your local laws for any restrictions before ordering).Good price for a quality knife.Glow in the dark scales!Cons:Pocket clip is bad- replace it if you need a usable clip.Double edged (Again check your local laws for any restrictions) Be careful! In summary, this is another winner from Masalong. I am very happy with my purchase and look forward to carrying this knife.
