The Sherpa is a lightweight, classic mountaineering glass. Its curved, wrapping temples are shaped and cut for better grip while moving quickly in the mountains.

high quality, relatively inexpensive
Update (10-2017): I still have these glasses, at this price point that's probably worth a 5-star review by itself. In fact, I still use them as my go to outdoor sunglasses. Which means they get worn a couple of times per week. The lenses do have some scratches which are noticeable while wearing them. I don't store or carry them in contact with anything else (they don't go in the glove box or get carried in a backpack or anything like that), so even with careful handling the lenses will scratch. Still, regular use for 4 years and still eminently useable. All the features I mentioned in my original review still apply.Original review (9-2013): Very pleased with these glasses so far. Fit is excellent and glasses really stay put. Plastic is textured enough not to feel too "plasticy." They may not have the premium feel of more expensive brands, but they look and feel well-put-together, in a practically minded way. Lenses block a comfortable amount of light for daily use here in the midwest (not ultra dark like some mountaineering style glasses). Side shields do affect peripheral vision - enough that I'd recommend against driving with them on. They also absorb a certain amount of moisture and limit air flow around the lenses which can get a little stuffy on hot days and leads to more fogging issues than I was used to with other glasses—occasionally bothersome (of course the side shields can be easily removed). Over all I'm glad I purchased these: a quality set of glasses that are well designed and perform as advertised while being inexpensive enough to be readily replaced when lost.

As long as you have the right size face, they're a great value for the price
(Posted by husband)Some reviews say these are ill-fitting, but I guess my head is just the right size. These fit me splendidly! However, they are really not adjustable, so if your face is not the same size as mine, your mileage may vary.I was vaguely worried that the wrap-around earpieces might be a little uncomfortable, or require some tweaking or getting used to, but again, they seem to fit me perfectly, and are so comfortable around the back of my ears that I barely even notice them at all. Very desirable feature to ensure that they don't go anywhere, no matter how sweaty or active you might get. The glasses are held right in place with no shifting and no concern even if I'm hanging upside-down.I admit that the bridge is a little wide for the top of my nose where they sit, but since the earpieces hold the glasses in place so well (for me), it's not a concern. The leather side panels are soft and comfortable, though they are not highly-engineered like you'd expect on a much more expensive pair; they might have small gaps which let some light in. Won't be a concern for me as I am not using them for glaciers and mountaineering, just general outdoors activities, hiking, backpacking, etc.As noted in other reviews, drivers should not use the side blinders in general (with any glasses), because it does impact your peripheral vision.Looking through them, the tint is vaguely brown/amber, instead of the usual "grey" of dime store sunglasses, but they do a good job cutting glare, and contrast remains strong. The vinyl sticker on the lens was kind of hard to get off, and I smudged up the lenses pretty good trying (I wish they wouldn't put those there), but they cleaned up well. The inclusion of a plastic protective case was nice, but it felt awkward getting them back into the case and closing it without feeling like you're crushing the glasses. It does squeeze down on them a bit, and I'm not sure if that kind of pressure will be good for the frames in the long run. We'll see.Haven't worn them enough to have an opinion on smudges or scratches, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do scratch somewhat easily like some other reviews have said. The last plus is that they just look cool, if you're into that old-school mountaineering aesthetic (which I am, but my wife is not).Again, it may be that you have to have exactly the right sized head for these to fit properly, and I just happen to be lucky enough to land inside that range. For the price, I am impressed with these, and wish I'd found them sooner. Five stars for the value!

Very happy with these glasses
A few years back I lost my prescription Bolle glacier glasses while on a cruise. I really missed those things. I've just had cataract surgery and decided I really wanted another pair of glacier glasses, especially as my eyes are pretty sensitive to bright light now. These Julbo Sherpa Mountain Sunglasses looked like a good starting point, affordable with all the features I wanted. Wore them for the first time today and they didn't dissappoint. Very comfortable, fit well even on my large face, stayed in place and look good. They definitely kept peripheral light out.I've certainly read people's comments about not wearing these types of glasses while driving and won't argue against that. But, if you are the type of driver who constatly scans your mirrors and has your head "on a swivel" maintaining situational awareness you are probably a lot better off no matter what type of sunglasses you wear than those who only move their eyes or stare straight ahead. If you mess with your smart phone at all while driving then you are much more likely to find yourself in an accident than someone wearing these glasses.

Ottimi!
