FANDANGO - YES!
This little movie, which did not get too much attention when it was released, is my favorite Kevin Costner film. Set in the middle of the Vietnam war, and using a college graduation and the looming fear of being drafted as the background, five college grads randomly decide to go on a road trip after a night of drinking, to find their old friend Dom. Throughout the journey, they are confronted with several obstacles where they must rise to the challenge to overcome. And whilst all these adventures occur, the guys must also face themselves, life change, heavy emotions and their fear of an unknown future. Great acting by a young Kevin Costner, Judd Nelson, Sam Robards and Suzy Amis. This is a great road trip film, fun, introspective, alive and enriching, I would definitely recommend!

All-time favorite!
I have loved this movie ever since I first saw it back in the 80s. Both humorous and touching, it's one of the best of Kevin Costner's early career, in my opinion. The supporting cast is strong as well, and it contains one of my favorite wedding scenes ever in a movie. If you're familiar with the story of "stone soup", you'll enjoy the final sequence of this movie as much as I do. So glad to finally have it in my collection!

Kevin Costner's finest film.
I have now watched this 10+ times, and it is an absolute must. The music (except for one song) is excellent and the acting top-notch. Judd Hirsch's fantastic and annoying and lovable at the same time. This young Costner is magnetic.

Under the radar, above the bar
I absolutely LOVE movies of character & substance that now-huge stars made before stardom. ( not the Jennifer Aniston in Leprechaun variety!). Costner is a joy as a restless, irresponsible college road tripping ringleader living for all of us!

Used? More like Tested
The DVD was in excellent shape. It didn't seem used, maybe just tested out. There is something captivating about this movie. I loved it the first time I saw it and I am another one glad that it is in DVD now.The Music is Excellent and ends with my favorite song. Some of the battling between the characters can be a little loose in spots but it is so entertaining, you don't think much about that. Every one had talent and played their parts convincingly. I agree with another review, this is some of Kevin Costner's best work and no one else could have done it better.Even if you don't care about the privileges of youth, those certain and uncertain times or the music, that stunt pilot was incredible. I'd watch it again and again just to see that.

I saw it when it was new...happily Amazon makes it easy to find
Fandango 1985A look back at a time when some could see that all the navigation markers had been moved, some more, some less. I, for one, did not pick up on all the clues.A disillusioned ‘Peter Pan’ improvises a ‘Last Hurrah’ with forced frivolity and pranks, grand stunts and a search for something to cling to.This is a very funny drama. Set in 1971, it is viewed from a post 1983 perspective with all the clarity of hindsight. This is a fairly inspired look at the time of life when many of us first recognize the erosion of innocence is at work and the beginning of a search for something, any idea, to fasten the remainder of life upon. The primary characters represent the ones who hold fast to tradition, the ones reaching for a new path, the ones carried by those who are stronger, and the ones rejecting what comes next…all traveling through the crowds just trying to get through the day - some of whom recognize the travails of our main characters as they pass by.Among other things is represented a wonderful rendition of the ‘stone soup’ meme in the last act, and a terrific topical soundtrack. In the end is the suggestion that all paths must be traveled and all destinations reveal some meaning.

risate e nostalgia
