Astral Projection for Beginners: Six Techniques for Traveling to Other Realms

An excellent book for anyone interested in astral projection techniques.
I am someone who for the last 7 decades has been a voracious reader and curious about a wide range of esoteric topics such as Zen, Taoism, Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, Hypnosis, the subconscious mind, numerous meditation and breathing techniques, time travel and related subjects. My interest lately has been focused on what is known as astral projection or astral travel. I have purchased many books on this topic lately and this 244 page soft cover book (Astral Projection for beginners: Six techniques for traveling to other realms by Edain McCoy) is one of them.I always gain something of value in any book and this volume is no exception. In fact, the way this topic is presented in this text makes the subject much easier to understand for anyone interested in out-of-body projection and travel skills.I am quite familiar with many mind expanding methods but I am still in the process of practicing astral traveling techniques and having the kind of astral experience I am seeking; nevertheless, this is a challenging skill that has to be developed and practiced over time. This is an excellent book for beginners interested in astral projection and travel. This volume is organized in four parts. Part one covers understanding and preparation for practicing astral travel. Part two explains six methods you can use in your practice sessions to achieve an astral experience. Part three begins to focus on the next step in your astral adventures, which is my personal eventual goal. The final part deals with the many resources and references to continue your knowledge and skills in astral projection and travel. In conclusion, I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning how to enter the realm of astral traveling.Rating: 5 Stars. Great for beginners and those looking for the best way to astral projdct
Love this book! I prefer to read more general information on this type of topic that can help anyone, vs personal experience and this was most definitely a book to help anyone find the best way to astral project! So far still working on meditation but my dreams are becoming more vivid and I am experiencing more control over those dreams for now. I will be reading this book a few times!

Also the technique presented seems to be more like a visualization or journeying technique more than actual astral ...
Luckily I had already astral projected before I read this book, because if this was the only book I had read on the subject I think I'd be to terrified to try. Also the technique presented seems to be more like a visualization or journeying technique more than actual astral projection.I would recommend the book ''Astral TRAVEL for beginners'' instead, or the books by William Buhlman.

Amazing book!
Astral Projection for Beginners is a great book for learning techniques on astral projection and lucid dreaming. Because there are several different techniques to help one get to the astral plane, I think that one of them will be right for the reader. I am a huge fan of the author. I have enjoyed everyone of her books that I've read. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent book for beginners.
Excellent book for beginners. Clear, well written prose from an author who is experienced at writing books and conducting workshops, and can relate not only reports from others, but her own personal experiences over the years. She spells out (no pun intended) the what, the why, and the how in orderly progression. In Part One ("Preparation") she clarifies what astral projection is and is not, different ways people perceive it when it happens, and how long it typically takes to learn to do it (varies widely). She also clarifies common fears and mistakes that trip people up. She details how to prepare oneself not only for actual sessions, but also why it takes time and patience to develop one's ability. She clearly explains the usual warning to never try to project while holding any negative thoughts such as anger or fear. The reason? As she (and others) repeatedly caution, in the projected state, every thought seems real - immediately. Negative thoughts and feelings can instantly appear as monsters or other unpleasant experiences that seem frighteningly real.So too the usual warning against trying to spy on others or use projection to harm another. Intention, whether to help or to harm, works back on the one holding it. Rather like trying to attack another by directing a laser at a mirror. The effects, she warns, can be unpleasant not only in the astral plane but in the physical as well. But she doesn't stop at cautions. She details how to clear oneself of such thoughts so as to approach projection in a clear, peaceful frame of mind. She also includes a caution I have not encountered in other books: avoid trying to project while physically ill. She explains that she learned from unpleasant personal experience that doing so takes energy away from the body just when it is needed for healing, and the result can be a much more severe illness. She also details simple, effective ways to protect oneself from anything unpleasant that might be encountered in the astral experience and how to distinguish helpful from untrustworthy entities one might encounter.Another element I have not seen in any other book is her emphasis on record keeping. A systematic diary of one's efforts and experiences, she explains, allows one to recognize progress that is only apparent in reviewing one's own records. It also shows what works and what doesn't for one, which is usually different for different people. She recommends a loose-leaf notebook. A jewel in here is a detailed illustration of a diary form layout she suggests. Creating a set of blank forms like this allows one to easily record details in a consistent format without having to think hard every time about what to write and how to write it. This makes it easy to quickly record notes and then to compare them across the weeks and months. In Part Two she details six different methods of actually achieving projection, because different people prefer different methods. She explains how one method is the easiest but takes more time, while a faster method requires more effort. In Part Three she describes three specific things one can use projection for: viewing one's "Akashic records" (one's own history and purpose in life), remote healing, and creative visualization (also called "manifesting" - setting up an intention that will later appear in physical form).I have read several books on this subject and I find this the clearest and most helpful book I have found yet. I heartily recommend it to anyone new to this subject.

left book halfway through
you want a book to scare you off astral travel? well...this is it. by the time you read of you getting lost and dropping into the underworld and you should arm yourself with fire. Oh my God, id already got myself in a worried state already visualising fighting baddies with my flaming sword. a friend told me to 'put that rubbish away' and i did. glad i did. astral travel is a wonderful experience without needing people writing scaring the wits out of you. i wont even give this to a charity shop as i wouldnt want another poor soul getting hold of it.
