Ideal for DIY game card makers/enthusiasts. Super clean and accurate cuts. Read Caveat in review!
11-19-2023 Caveat:Today I attempted to cut a piece of 1/8" foam core. That resulted in my ruining the trimmer. I don't know how or why this happened, but I hadn't gotten more than 1/4" threw the attempted cut when more than expected resistance caused me to stop. After removing the foam core, I couldn't reseat the blade. Evidently the metal strip on the trimmer (not the blade itself) had a gouge in it that would hang up the blade. There was no way to save it. I tried finding a replacement strip but not having found one, I threw out the trimmer and ordered a replacement.Don't use it on anything but paper...==================== Original Review ==========================================I recently took up the challenge of creating a board game for my nephews and nieces that also requires a small deck of personalized playing cards. Having watched several informative videos on the subject, I settled on a method where I create 8 evenly spaced on letter sized card stock, which I then laminate and trim to produce 8 individual cards. Based on the recommendations by one You-Tube guru, I purchased the Fiskars Sure Cut Portable Trimmer to facilitate this. But, while researching cutter/trimmers at Amazon, I decided to double down on my tool investment and also purchased this Fiskar's Bypass Trimmer. (I have no idea why it's labeled as "Recycled" - maybe a returned item being resold?)Comparing the effort and the results of both the Fiskars SureCut Portable Paper Trimmer and the Fiskars 01-005452 Recycled Bypass Trimmer to trim the playing cards, the latter has proven itself to be vastly superior in making accurate cuts.My card artwork includes corner marks that assist in lining up the laminated card stock in the trimmers.Unfortunately, the Portable Trimmer’s cutter wanders a bit during cutting and doesn’t truly track with that fine guide wire. The results were good but not perfect. The cards vary a bit in size no matter how carefully I set up the cuts. With a little care in the aligning those index marks along the lower cutting edge, cuts made on the Bypass trimmer were straight and super clean. The cards were virtually identical. In both cases I used the Kodomaru Pro corner cutter. (another invaluable tool for the DIY game card maker!) The deck I produced with the Bypass Trimmer felt like a storebought deck of playing cards. Those cut with the Portable Trimmer? Not so much. This Bypass Trimmer may cost a little more than the Portable Trimmer, but if you plan to use this to make game cards, you'll be glad you spent the extra money.

The best paper cutter I’ve used
I am a professional artist, cutting paper is not my main medium, but it’s some thing I do often and I need accurate cuts. I’ve tried probably half a dozen paper cutters in the last few year, some cheap, some very expensive. This is the best paper cutter. I wish it could cut 30 sheets at a time like some I’ve used, but its accuracy is unmatched. If you’re after an easy to use paper cutter with CORRECT MEASUREMENTS and AN EXACT 90° ANGLE this is the one for you. It’s made of one piece of molded plastic instead of parts attached together like nearly every other paper cutter I’ve tried, so you’re not reliant on parts match up perfectly to get straight cuts. It certainly isn’t the most expensive but this is honestly the best paper cutter I’ve used in the last 10 years.

Love this! Very easy to use. Nice, clean cut.
This paper cutter is great. I had a couple that you had to push the little blade down and then half the time it wouldn't go all the way through. This is a game changer. Slice and it's done! Highly recommend the guillotine type and this brand is great. Very clean, straight cut, easy to use and it has a lock to hold it until the next use. It says you can cut up to 15 sheets. Haven't tried that but it seems heavy duty enough that it would hold true. I make cards and use card stock often so this will be fabulous.

Affordable and Efficient
I’ve been debating whether to get a paper cutter for a while. I grew up with one at home, but now that I have my own place, I’ve been using a cutting mat and blade for my paper crafts. Still, nothing beats the convenience of a paper cutter for cutting multiple straight lines. The Fiskars Recycled Bypass Paper Trimmer makes this cutter an affordable choice. There’s a feature that keeps the blade in place when stored, but I wish it secured it a bit better when not in use. However, I usually store it in a spot where it’s not an issue. Overall, I recommend it for scrapbooking and cardmaking!

lines and hole for carrying
I'm a mixed media artist and former teacher so I've tried about 6 different paper cutters and after getting this one I gave all the others away! The size is perfect for most needs, the lines from top to bottom every 1/4" and the clear plastic guard are an incredible help in getting perfectly straight slices and the opening for a handle is a fabulous plus---like, why hasn't anyone thought of this before??? Also, it's so light weight and the lock on the blade handle makes it completely safe to carry around. I can't say say enough good things about this product. I only wish it also came in a larger size, and sorry, Fiskars, I really don't like orange.

Love this paper trimmer!
I use this trimmer all the time for my card making! I love that it cuts cleanly all sizes of paper and is so easy to line up paper for accurate cutting. Measurements are clearly marked from one sixteenth of an inch and it can cut strips that small.
