This product came nicely packaged in a sleek black box, and came with both a velvet sleeve for protection and a rubber stand for displaying/storing the decanter (really great if it's a gift). The tool itself is plastic and rubber, but well made and easy to use and clean. It should be noted that this aerator is different from other popular models... it does not attach to the wine bottle, you must hold it over your glass and pour wine into the top of the aerator, letting it filter through the aeration mechanism and out of the bottom of the aerator into your glass (like a funnel). I personally have not tried the kind that attach to the wine bottle, and so I can't compare. However, I can compare it to a traditional glass decanting vessel- it is not as elegant per se, but it is easier to clean, store, and travel with.As for the actual results of the aeration... it is much the same as a traditional decanter. One note is that it does create air bubbles at the top of the wine which quickly dissipate, but this is an effect you would not have with a traditional decanter. Insofar as drinkability, the results of the aeration are a smoother, softer wine. There is a noticeable difference in the mouth-feel of the wine, something that may or may not be desirable depending on your tastes and on the bottle. I would recommend trying your wine with and without the decanter to see what way you prefer it. In my case, I often prefer my wine as is, while my guests like it to be decanted. This tool offers a simple, perfect compromise- simply pour through the decanter, or don't!

I wish I had bought this wine aerator a long time ago- it does make a significant difference- the wine is much smoother and softer. My product arrived in a perfect outer box but the black elegant box in which the aerator nestles had a corner badly crushed. Fortunately,the aerator itself wasn't damaged, and since I use it so often and keep it standing upright on the table in its neat little holder, the box didn't matter much to me.

This i s easy to use, easy to clean, and overall enjoyable.

I liked my aerator so much that I had one sent to my daughter who lives in wine country in California. She also was amazed at the difference it made.
