Might actually be interferential. Usable as TENS unit for sure. Signal strength shuld be greater
Over the last 5 years, I bought this TENS unit and two other units. The two other units claimed to be interferential:1) IF 4K™ digital interferential Dual Channel 6 modes by Koalaty Products2) IF-4000 Analog Portable Interferential PN# KOA-IF4000 by IF-4000I compared the units directly, by leaving the electrode pads in the same place and swapping the leads between the units, which takes only a few seconds, as the electrode pads have connections within 4 inches of the the pad itself. I gave the TENS 7000 4 stars, the IF-4000 3 stars, and the Koalaty unit 1 star. You will find both TENS and interferential units at a rehabilitation business. Proffesional TENS units are inexpensive, 30–100$. Professional Interferential units cost between 1500 and 6k$. The Koalaty control keys and patterns worked beautifully, but the signal was so weak, it was incapable of introducing any changes to the my muscles in chronic spasm. The IF-4000 had no controls other than frequency and signal strength.Of the three units I bought, the TENs 7000 works the best. If I was to make my choices again, I would not bother with the Koalaty unit. The IF-4000 does have a strong enough signal to work to find smaller deeper muscles, it does feel different than the TENS 7000, but I'm still not sure the IF-4000 is interferential, it lacks the signal strength to make a direct comparison. The TENS 7000 has a strong signal and its controls work well. Like any TENS unit, it can be painful at the pad or needle location, or when it lights up a nerve. True interferential units can get deeper with less pain. I do not know the difference in electrical signal which makes one unit TENS and one unit interferential. I experience both in a professional setting as much as twice a week (for 4 years now).I might buy IF-4000 again. It does feel different when used in the same location and time. The frequency controller on the IF-4000 did not work. The IF-4000 has enough signal strength, but its signal strength varies from moment to moment, it has less signal strength than the TENS 7000, and I'm not sure the IF-4000 is really interferential, even now. The signal strength of the IF-4000, while adequate to stimulate deeply located muscles is not strong enough to make a direct comparison to the TENS 7000 and make a guess whether the IF-4000 is actually interferential. The Koalaty controls are excellent, but its signal strength is so weak as to be useless to me for my worst muscle spasm problems, barely useful for large muscles close to the surface, and it is twice the price of the other two units. Like the IF-4000, I am still not sure that the Koalaty unit is interferential. Its signal strength is so weak, there is no way to compare the unit to the IF-4000 or the TENS 7000. You have to feel them at roughly the same (high) intensity to know. The Koalaty unit is also more than double the price of the TENS 7000 and the IF-4000. The problems I have are in muscles around beneath my spine and among the secondary breathing muscles rather than at the surface. I have make the pads small, and push them deep and hold them there to get access to the right muscles. The Koalaty unit just lacks the signal strength for that. I would not bother with this unit.

Works great for muscle injuries due to sports
I bought this device almost two years ago because I was told that only an inferential TENS unit would help heal injuries and that other TENS units were only for pain relief. As a runner, I've had lots of leg injuries and this device really helped speed up the healing process. I've had overuse pains in both quads and used it on one side for a day. The next day, that quad was pain free, while the other side was still aching. Same with hamstrings. It's not going to heal a severe injury overnight, but it definitely works.I bought an extra pack of adhesive pads, but the pads can be used over and over if you replace them on the plastic sheet when not in use. The pack of pads I bought are higher quality than the ones that came with this device. In two years of occasional use, I've gone through only 2-3 sets of pads. My point is that pads aren't going to add to the total cost of the device over time. I use it mostly on the 8/8 setting, which varies the speed of the pulse every few (8?) seconds. I would strongly recommend buying 9v rechargeable batteries because it goes through a battery every 2-3 hours. I bought the 4-pack of EBL rechargeable batteries with charger on Amazon, which seem to last as long as a top of the line brand name 9v battery. I use about 2 batteries a day when I'm injured. At a cost of less than one visit to my physical therapist, this device has paid for itself a dozen times over.

Nice one
As a physical therapist, I have tried different machines and brands. After my last one died out, I went in search of an IF device that would get the work done at a reasonable price.I must say this was a good purchase, the feeling is really good and it does what I need it to. What I loved the most is that all of the parameters are 100% costumizable, not like the ones that come with preestablished programs. Although to the patients that use it I would definitely recommend that someone helps you get it started for it to have the effect that you are looking for.A downside I found was the battery. I keep it plugged whenever I can but it sometimes is not possible. I used the battery that comes in the box but is marked "low battery" during the first 5 minutes of use.

Does help relieve pain
Purchased for back pain. It does relieve the back pain, but requires someone else to apply the pads onto my back. The clear plastic on which the pads are stored when not in use should be colored. When the pads are not on the clear plastic it is difficult to see/find when you need it to store the pads. With regular use, it has helped ease my back pain. My spouse has also used it on his upper arm to help relieve muscle pain.

Changed My Life
Honestly I was not sure what to expect from this. My PT recommended it for my severe endometriosis pain. I knew these types of devices helped with the pain once it came on, but after using this I'm convinced if I start using it just before the pain hits too badly, the pain never comes on fully. I'm really not sure what the science is behind it, but I've become convinced that if I use it before the pain comes (I usually feel it coming on) then I can manage with only tylenol and advil instead of my usual prescription painkillers. I think this machine has changed how I cope with my endometriosis pain forever and I really hope this machine is what is causing this positive change. It has been 3 months now and I'm convinced this machine is what has improved my pain. I strongly recommend it if you suffer from cramps or endometriosis pain. It has given me my life back when I use it preemptively.

PT recommended. Analog interface. Made in Taiwan.
Purchased on recommendation from PT. Have gotten inferential therapy in their office, it was great there. Now can do at home, though it isn't as intense as in the PT office. Saved me 2 nights ago after waking up with lower leg pain, put on the pads.... woke up sometime later, painfree. I'd fallen asleep. This type of therapy is simply amazing, very effective. Have just bought another one so I can hook up two body parts at once. Analog, real dials, no cheap LED that will break. The unit and box are all labeled Made in Taiwan .
