Good Value PSU
I use a number of different types of variable voltage bench power supplies. I run a small company and we cannot afford top of the line equipment and we do not require government calibrated units. My company works on electronic and software designs and I have not only used this unit extensively I have also taken the cover off and looked at the internal design, not because there was an issue, but to compare it to a similar looking unit that had a very bad design which failed hence needing to purchase this replacement. We use these PSUs to power small dc devices that we need to test at a specific voltage and current. In most cases we are running at fairly high percentage current draws of 3-4Amps and switching the equipment on and off repeatedly throughout the day. Although we always ramp the voltage up before turning it on and down before turning it off, the unit gets a lot of use perhaps 20 -30 cycles a day.To date the unit has proved reliable and although the heatsink gets warm, there is nothing cooking under the hood and the unit reliably and consistently delivers the set voltage and current required for the tests. Inside the unit is professionally manufactured with a well thought out layout, good circuit design and professional component soldering and connections unlike some other similar units on the market.Overall I am very pleased with this PSU, consider it good value for money and would recommend it to others.

Good value but don't expect 5 amps continuous output...
I purchased this power supply as a general purpose bench test supply. It's not bad for the money. It does a decent job of regulating. The displays are big and bright. (My LCD's light up with white LED's backlights.) The Volt meter is OK considering they are only accurate to +/- .1 volt. I would not expect the current to be terribly accurate. But it does a decent job of letting you know approximately what voltage and current is going out. (Probably better than most analog meters.)I put a 24 volt DC blower on the supply and ran it at 24 VDC at about 1.95 amps for 30 minutes. The unit gets pretty warm. I could smell the "new electronics smell" burning off inside. The heat sink on the back got up to the point I could not keep my hand on it. Not sure I would attempt to pull 5 amps continuous out of this power supply. Like most generic Chinese electronic devices you should expect about HALF of the rated specifications... I think it would be OK for 2.5 amps continuous... Not 5. But that it to be expected for a "bargain" linear power supply.Overall this is a nice quiet compact bench power supply. Just don't over load it.

Agree with Mr. Varsanyi -- controls are twitchy; otherwise a good unit
I bought this on the recommendation of the reviews here, and I'm not sorry I did. Everything was as expected. The unit is heavy, with a large heat sink, and everything about it seems well-enough made for the price. Comparable supplies from name-brand companies will cost hundreds more. Mine came with a strap-style carrying handle on the top, whereas the picture doesn't show one. It's a plus. I don't know if they all come that way or if it varies.I do agree with Eric's review regarding the "coarse" and so-called "fine" adjustments. "Less coarse" is a better name for the "fine" adjustment. You can get what you want but you have to work the very touchy knobs quite a bit to get it there. It doesn't provide "ease of adjustment" despite claims. And, the current control is indeed a current limit adjustment when in constant voltage mode (ie normal operation). I am wondering why one reviewer stated otherwise.All-in-all, quite serviceable. A remote voltage sense input would have been nice -- I bet it's an easy hack to make. I'll find out after the warranty runs out :-)

Great cheap power supply for smaller projects.
Good for low amp draw items. Mine arrived with one LCD display pushed in during shipment. I took the cover off and pushed it back into place. I then saw the poor welds, quick build and quality assurance checks, but this does work for the price. The adjustment knobs tend to loosen up, epoxy helps this. Good for smaller projects though. This will not take up much bench space, and will allow you to adjust for different power and amperage. The Orange power button feels cheap, but this will last. Mine is about three years old now and gets used a lot. After the company offered to assist me on this, three years after purchase on the item. I have used for quite some and would buy another, I have added a star to my review.

This is a good little power supply
This is a good little power supply, though I have not tested all of its capabilities yet. Set the voltage to 12.0 volts and tested it with my multi-meter. The reading showed 11.2 volts. Not sure which unit to believe though my multi-meter consistently shows within 0.2 volts of the output of other units I have tested it against. The documentation on this unit is lacking so I am not sure how to set the output amperage. Testing the power supply with motors, the amperage indicator shows the amperage draw, but no real amperage limitation. Since I bought this power supply to work with some robotic circuits with amperage limits, I will have to figure something out. Overall, this is a good unit for the price, but if you need precise voltage or amperage limits you might want to look further.

OK power supply but controls are twitchy and no voltage sense
The controls are a bit difficult to adjust finely (despite the 'fine' adjustment pots) and there's some threshold where internally a relay clicks on/off which changes the ranges (adjustment is not smooth). There is no voltage sense line, the green connector is an additional ground. If the current draw doesn't vary much regulation works fine and there's not much ripple or other noise on the output. The built in meters are adequate but low-res enough to want to use a good external meter if you are measuring milliamps or millivolts. All in all a fairly low end supply but adequate if you understand the limitations. Good value for the price.
