Works great with the standard antenna
I have a 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser without JBL and I replace the stock radio with a Pioneer AVIC 5201NEX and a SiriusXM SXV300 sat radio. The Pioneer and the SiriusXM radio came from Crutchfield, the only place to buy this kind of stuff and be sure to specify JBL or non-JBL otherwise the cable harness will not be right. And even then the Crutchfield support is awesome and they will help you out.Anyway, Sirius claims that you cannot use the stock sharkfin antenna and that the included antenna is much better. If I place the included antenna right behind the windshield then I have perfect reception driving north to south, the other way around it drops the signal every couple of minutes. So I bought this cable. It is a bit too long for what I wanted to do, but it really works. No drop-outs at all.The only thing I will caution about is that the plug on this cable that goes into its counter part on the car side is slightly too big. At first I thought I had the wrong part but eventually it slid into place. Pull it out and put it back in a couple of times each time making sure that the pin did not bend. Eventually it will go in smoothly

Good cable but incorrect description
The description says, "The vehicle connector is often located in close proximity to the antenna itself." It should say, "The vehicle connector is almost always located in close proximity to the car RADIO and from there it goes to the shark fin antenna." I think that because the description is incorrect, some folks found this cable too short. My hunch is that they tried to run this cable from the satellite radio in the dash, though the length of the car, and then to the shark fin. It only needs to go from the satellite radio, that's usually in or near the dashboard, to the antenna cable connector in the dashboard, that's almost always just a few inches away.Other than that, as long as you get the right gender cable for your car, it works fine. This one has a female connection. This one has a male connection:http://www.amazon.com/Shark-Antenna-Adapter-Toyota-vehicles/dp/B00BU779KQ/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1435734009&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=SFA12m

Fits 2014 FJ Cruiser
Fits my 2014 FJ Cruiser with the premium JBL sound system. We wanted to use the factory shark fin XM antenna and this snaps in perfectly. We did not want that ugly Sirius/XM antenna device sitting on top of our dash and certainly did not want any holes drilled to mount that ugly thing. The factory shark fin antenna plugs right into the back of the factory stereo unit but your new aftermarket stereo (Kenwood) and the XM tuner will not accept the square Toyota factory plug in, this where you need a connection that requires a square female to plug into. (Cause the factory shark fin cable ends with a male end). This is where this awesome adapter comes into play. Female square on one end and the sirius/XM (little round on the other) connection makes it all perfect cause your new stereo still requires a XM tuner but you are utilizing the factory shark fin with this. Perfect!!!

fit perfectly on both ends... didn't work anyway
I installed this in my 2011 Toyota Sienna while installing an aftermarket radio with sirius xm. This connected perfectly to the factory antenna connector behind the dash, and connected to the sirius xm receiver. However, the XM radio was unable to receive any signal. Using the included XM antenna instead resolved the issue. As my factory antenna worked fine prior to the replacement, it can only be this adapter that fails to work.

they kept insisting that the 12Ft cable is sufficiently long and shoudl be fine for the VAN
This was the only adapter that would fit teh Toyota sharkfin connector on a relative's van. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is due to VAIS tech supports unwillingness to help. The cable was too short to go from teh Sienna's rear tailgate to teh back of the HeadUnit where the SAT tuner is located. When VAIS tech support was contacted, they kept insisting that the 12Ft cable is sufficiently long and shoudl be fine for the VAN. For a car, yes and for a van where the connector is sharkfin connecter is located close to the headunit or under the fron seats, it will work. If your connector is on teh top of the rear tailgate (as in Tooyota Sienna 2011 and up), this is 5-6 feet short.

Expensive but worth it.
This is one of those items you can do without, but it's a great addition to your DIY radio project. There are several points to make which may be helpful. (1) This was for a 2011 Prius II which was satellite ready. This is important since it means this particular vehicle has a factory installed antenna system which can be utilized to get decent satellite radio reception. (2) You can install a satellite tuner without using this product. You simply run the magnetic antenna to the outside of the vehicle and stick it to the roof.(3) If you prefer (like I did) to avoid using the outside/after market antenna, then this product will work for you. (4) This next point is very important. THIS WAS THE WRONG PRODUCT FOR THIS VEHICLE. We had to return this and exchange it for the SFA12M.I repeat: SFA12M.. (5) We contacted VAIS Technology, and their staff was extremely helpful in exchanging the product. And I might add very quick in shipping out the new product. (6) I can only speak for this particular model vehicle. The connection for the SFA12M was between the front seats. The center console was easily removed with 5 bolts (10 mm socket) and the already installed and pre-wired satellite module was obvious.Yes it is expensive, But if you want to use the system already in place on some Toyota models and avoid the extra wire and antenna on your roof (that comes with the tuner), this is the answer. It is always a pleasure dealing with Amazon, but even more so with Amazon's partner - Vais Technology.Recommended.
