Dunu Alpha 1

Glorified 'iPod' buds.I appreciate what Dunu tried to do here, and have enjoyed other products of theirs; however, the varied contours of different ears make the 'seal' system extremely hit and miss, and for me (earsize being on the smaller side of average) the only way I could wear them without horrible pain after very short listening sessions, was by using the felt/foam sheaths, none of the 'seals' would grant a decent compromise between comfort and seal/isolation.Using them as I did/could, with the foam sheaths, they definitely had an excellent sound compared to 'stock' buds that come with phones, iPods, etc, but ultimately their limited flexibility and good sound is grossly overpriced in this package. If I wanted 'old school' ipod buds with better sound, I'd buy these. But only for 50-60 bucks. Maybe Dunu will drop all the extra 'tips' and simplify the package and sell this again (hopefully with smaller sized buds) for a better price point. I think there is a niche market for these, but not at the current price or with the current lack of flexibility concerning the fit.

この製品はかなり大きいため小さい耳の人にはおすすめできません。サイズがフィットしていないとカシャカシャとしたおもちゃのような鳴りになるため、耳の小さい方は購入非推奨です。カスタマイズ用のパーツが同封されていますが、取替の難易度が非常に高い上に着脱時に外れやすいです。また、どうやってもつけることが出来ないパーツも同封されており、全体的にかなり中途半端な出来でした。

As a long time headphone user and owner of Westone IEMs, I was very much tempted to buy those earbuds. I wanted non-isolating earphones, that would allow me to hear traffic and be safe on a bike or simply walking aroind on the street, so earbuds should do it Armature driver for highs and mids and dynamic for bass, in an open-ear application, seemed to be a decent idea.So they arrived. Build quality is decent and purchase went smoothly. They fit the ear just fine, but not airtight, which is exactly what I wanted, and the package is really full of tips and stuff. However, sound quality is just terrible, flat, with no bass whatsoever and not a trace of space or resolution.Those should not be earbuds. They totally lose it when just in your ears, as eaebuds are supposed to work. They sound a whole lot better though as ear canal phones, when pressed tightly towards auricle, but then they are not comfortable at all (not to mention that walking around presing your eqrs with your fingers looks just stupid). They try to be "auricle-canal" hybrid, but that is not what I paid for.If you want well fitting but open earbuds, that do not fall out easily, go with Bose IE2. They are cheaper and sound far better than DUNU Alpha 1. Alphas might be a perfect base for customization, as casing them into Shure-like form would probably work wonders, but as earbuds they are worthless. Nice build quality though.
