The Cheerleaders of Doom (NERDS Book Three)

This review is based upon my son's experience with this book, as I haven't read it myself. This is the 3rd book in this series about a group of kids who act as spies or secret agents for the government. Apparently, the author belonged to this group when he was a kid! Each of the kids have special super-talents that help them get the job done. In this book, a less-than-attractive girl gets plastic surgery so that she can become a cheerleader. She and the cheerleaders are disrupting the time-space continuum (or something like that) by traveling to different dimensions, stealing things and bringing them back to our dimension. The NERDS team must stop them.My son, now 10, read the first book when he was 8 and the second book when he was 9. He finished them both in a few days. He has been waiting about a year for this one to come out. When he received it, he read it in 2 days flat. These books are funny and interesting. He said this one was the best of the 3 because it contained funny quizzes throughout. For example:"On a scale of 1 to 10, rate your feelings about the following list of crimes - "1" being a crime against humanity and "10" being a tiny crime:-Driving a car into an orphanage-Taking the world hostage-Kidnapping someone's pet-Toppling a governemt-Building a giant robot to crush a city-etc.-OR-A dog bites you. What do you do?a. Run crying to the hospitalb. Enjoy the beautiful pain and thank the dogc. Track the dog back to its family and exact revenged. Bite the dog backNeedless to say, my son loved this book as much as the first 2. I recommend this series, especially for boys and/or reluctant readers.

I bought this to read with my 4th grade son. He had his own copy from the library, but I wanted to read it with him so that we could discuss it. The book was fun for him and appropriate for his age. I haven't read any others in the series so cannot comment to the series. My son is a very reluctant reader so if your child doesn't like to read, this might be a fun book. However, it was too long. He has ADHD so had a difficult time finishing such a long book.

My son is in second grade and LOVES these books. They are a tough read, though, and he has been reading well above grade level for a while. There are some really big words and some tough concepts for young kids. But overall I love that it has stretched his reading skills and been enjoyable enough for him to stick with it and not get frustrated. Love them! And such a great concept, that what might be troublesome traits making kids nerds also makes them uniquely skilled for being secret agents.

It is the most awesome book ever oh yeah it is very cool I love it I would definitely recommend it

Ths is exactly what grandson asked for. Hey, how can you miss when you give them exactly what they had asked for.We may not have a clue what it is or about, but you learn after a while that as long as parents don't jump and say "Don't get it" you are pretty much ahead of the game.

This is the series that got my son to really love reading!He only read because we told him to before, and he liked it but wouldn't pick up a book on his own. Now there are several series that he can't put down. He was so hooked that he asked every day if this book had come yet. Thankfully, Amazon didn't let me down and it arrived early.What a great investment for the future!

I never heard of this series before until I got them as a birthday gift. They're really cute, packaged well, and the books were brand new. Thanks again!

Not me making the comment, but our 11 year old grandson.reckons they were all really good !Good stories as separate books but were a conjoining set of books

We have just finished david walliams series which is a much less complex read and perfect for my 10 year old, I am reading this to him as there are lots of words!!!! So I would say aimed more at 12 - 14 year olds. Story good

I read these to my son and we really love them. They are easy to read and hold his attention. My daughter will be reading them next as there great for girls too with some strong female characters.

I have read all of these books and I can't help but love them. They are really fun and intriguing. They are GREAT.
