It's good but I think I'd like a booklet at least for reference to see the words I'm learning too.

This is a great course
I bought this course about 10 years ago, and never got beyond the first couple of lessons. Since the recent election I can't listen to the news anymore without getting distressed, so decided to amuse myself for the next 4 years learning Spanish. Am now almost finished with the fourth CD. The early ones I really liked because they taught very simple phrases and there was time between the English phrase and the Spanish to get the Spanish in before they did, which helped a lot. Now that I am further in and have to think about how to say the phrase or whatever, I find that the gaps between are too short for me. Apart from that, I do like this course, it seems to cover everything that you'd need for day to day conversation, all the usual tenses etc. For any Brits interested, I would say this would get you to O'Level standard.I use this during my daily commute - about 40 minutes each way - and each lesson is about 5 minutes or so. I go over each lesson multiple times until I am fluent, then move on to the next one. I also use the little booklets to review the spelling etc. - I need to be able to see it - not in the car obvs. And common verbs (can, should, want to, would like to etc.) I turn off the CD and conjugate them repeatedly until it comes easily. I'm already thinking about what I can tackle next, I have 4 years.

Spain NOT Mexico Spanish
I will assume that this would have been a good book however, I was looking for Mexican Spanish not Spain Spanish. There is a significant difference.

Lots of concepts and practice with clear speakers
I have the 2014 Audible version, which is 11 hours long and does not have the written booklets. I would like to have had the written part also, but this set is great for what I wanted it to do--and that's to give me another way to practice my Spanish understanding and accent. This is not the first recording I've purchased, so I already have some of the basics, and the first few hours were pretty easy and good practice. But by the second half of the 11 hours, I was more than challenged at keeping up and understanding the sentences. This is exactly what I needed to increase my listening skills. They also do a little bit of passive teaching, but nothing that is explained. The explanations are in the very brief titles of the chapters. A typical chapter might be going through the past tense of an irregular verb, in all conjugations. You get what they are doing if you've done any studies of language at all, but it does not have an explanation. The best features: it's a full 11 hours of well-translated, clearly enunciated Spanish (by two speakers), with increasingly more complex sentences. By the end I was sure I would listen to it several times. I commute for about 20 minutes one way, and that's about the perfect amount of time to have it on.

Great for if you’re driving to Mexico and you need to know very basic Spanish ASAP.
Easy to use while in the car, but it’s only repeating what the speaker says. No question/answer type learning, or any real analysis on vocabulary and verb conjugation.
